What would you say is the single most important problem facing the world today?
Well, I'm going to be very USA-centric in this answer, I'm afraid, since that's really the only country I know first hand, but it's an answer that I think could be applied to other places, too.
You can point to specific problems like global warming, or war, or poverty, but at the heart of the problem, I see simply the inability to solve them. America in particular is suffering from incompetent leadership and a large population of people who don't bother to be educated enough about what's going on in their government. Incompetent and stupid people in leadership positions are one of my biggest pet peeves, namely because of the problems that arise, like the economy suffering. I know they have their reasons for doing what they do, and normally I would turn a blind eye to their corruption if it weren't affecting me, but when it puts a whole country into debt, everyone hurts. When they simply have idiotic policies that accomplish nothing and don't pay attention to problems until they directly affect their career, that's simply not responsible.
And pushing their ineffective policies on everyone else is a whole 'nother can of worms that I won't open now, but it really falls under the same heading. I think most other problems facing the world today could be solved if countries actually elected people who had actually earned the position, by being the smartest of the smart and knowing how to use that smartness. XD
What is the one single thing you are most passionate about in your life?
Being extraordinary, breaking the mold, standing out from a crowd, and finding satisfaction in it; that's what makes me happy. The standards put on me by others only really matter when they're higher than mine, and then only if they're set by someone that I really care about and deeply respect. I wouldn't be satisfied with a run of the mill desk job, nor with flipping burgers or pumping gas. I love the feeling of exceeding my own expectations and being able to take pride in the things I've done. And I measure this sort of thing in terms of career; even if I came from a family that had a ton of money, I'd still want the work, the challenge. I like it too much to sit around doing nothing.
As an aside, it'd be nice if the environment stuck around long enough for me to have enough resources to make the most of my life, and if the economy didn't sink into the gutter so that I'd have enough money, but that's mostly just a requirement for the most important thing.
Also had to edit this one. Sorry, I'm too hyped up on caffeine right now to properly divide a comment in two. >.>
