I focused my search on squirrels for a few different reasons, and I went with a tree squirrel because they are more solitary, similar to the applicant here. I chose the Western Gray Squirrel because of their focus on weather and their shy nature.
-The applicant mentions as her top trait being organized and accomplished. I related this to the squirrels foraging nature and display of productiveness when they make caches of food when it is abundant.
-She also mentions wanting to blend in, being nosy/spying. The squirrel can be a cunning animal by spying from their tree, and tricking other animals by 'pretending' to hide their food in a certain spot.. but then find a safer place for it when no one is watching. As for blending in - I read "When on alert, they will spread their tails lavishly, creating an umbrella effect that shields them and possibly provides cover from overhead predators."
-She dislikes heat.. the Western Gray Squirrel is a forest dweller and so they primarily enjoy a temperate climate. They are found along the western coast of USA/Canada which is known for it's varying climate - so she could enjoy many overcast, rainy days depending on the specific location.
-She wants to be on the ground, but also mentioned freedom and exploring as an interest in becoming an animagus. I felt the tree dwelling Western Gray Squirrel fit well with this because they spend time traveling and sleeping in trees (more freedom and exploring, and avoiding predators) but they spend much time on the ground foraging and such as well.
Other reasons I chose this species: avoids large groups, most alert in the morning (this squirrel is strictly diurnal), private person, and doesn't want her movements restricted/being too large. She wants to be attractive, with fur, and intelligent.. which fits well with the Western Gray Squirrel.
