And I really, really like this one. I think you show perfectly Paul's conflicting emotions here, as he goes through this whole mess of feelings and not really ending up resolving anything at all. And poor Angus...he's just seems so disconnected from it all, every once in a while letting some real emotion slip through. Which seems very in character, with him being an intensly private person, even while it's all slipping through his fingers.
It's quite a powerful read, and this line: “It’s okay” he whispered in the other’s ear.
“No it’s not”, Angus said bluntly, eyes closed. just slays me every time. It's simple and elegant and says oh so very much.
One little thing though, and I'm only mentioning it because it is such a brilliant story...the second last line seemed a little jarring to me, it's the word mischievously. To me it doesn't fit in with the mood of the piece and Paul's voice in this. Other than that, this is pure awesomeness. :)
