Earth. I don't know. They're something different. Worthy of a livejournal mention. Heavy, but not agressive. Well, I don't know. Maybe they are? Until recently I only listened to Pentastar, their accessible album. But just now I listened to "Teeth of Lions Rule the Divine" from Earth 2, and it's just really different. Unlike anything I've heard before. You could almost fall asleep to it if you wanted, if it wasn't such an intense listening experience. There are no vocals, nor drums. Only multiple layers of bass and guitar (both heavily fuzzed and distorted beyond anything I've heard) and lots of ambience.
And it's sloooooooooooooooooooooooooooooow. A snail's pace. I want to call it metal, but it's too slow to be categorized so generally. It's almost a genre unto itself. Hell, I don't even know if I necessarily enjoyed it as much as I just experienced it. I know one thing though, I can't listen to anything else after that. It kind of pales in comparison. It's trance, doom, and it may have just changed the way I look at writing music, even what music is. More experimental than 10 Mike Pattons, all while sounding like an army of B-52's flying just overhead. Maybe I'm just still awestruck and will come to my sense later, but I felt a need to mention this stuff. It's just... ahhhh! Something I really needed, a fresh perspective, something NEW.
