His friend took the seat beside him. "The blonde boy, you two seem friendly."
A snort almost escaped him. Friendly? Well, he supposed that if he didn't fry anyone that would count as being friendly. "Lord Oz Vesalius, he annoys me."
"Really? But he was smiling." Ike said it as if no one who talked to him could conceive of smiling...which was true after a fashion. Back home, not even Mist stayed smiling for long. Which, he began to realise, was what annoyed him. Not the falseness of the smile, that was Lord Vesalius' problem, not his, but the fact that not even at his most dour he couldn't make the boy stop. It was pride really, more than anything. Not that he would ever tell Ike this. Not that he would ever tell anyone this.
Soren looked back down. "He never stops smiling, it's unusual." Then he added after some thought, "You would like him."
He received a lop-sided grin. "Would I?"
"Yes, I think you would."
Ike gave him a thoughtful look. "He must have made quite the impression on you," he remarked. Soren didn't answer, which was enough of an answer anyway.
Soren looked up from his book. "Who?"
