Episode 16: Gossiping and Noseyness
So I don't know. Some recent real life events have I guess inspired me to write a blog about Gossiping and being Nosey; and also helped me learn there is quite a difference between them. As most of you know I'm a pretty big fan of gossip. Whenever I visit Herndon I always want to know what going on with everyone. And yeah I ask about things but if no one has info on it I move on. Some say that action is Nosey. And maybe it is, but I don't think that clarifies me as a Nosey person. A Nosey person is a person who performs Nosey actions after they don't get the information they wanted. So I want to brake it down: to compare and contrast to explain why you can accept gossip but why Nosey people should be avoided.

I would say that I am quite a responsible gossiper. But to keep this argument fair, I will compare a nosey person to an obsessive gossiper. And not to be sexist here, but the high majority of both of these type of people are girls.
1) Spreading Information
Both Gossipers and Nosey people like to spread information. But the difference is, gossipers spread information just to do so. They want to see the action and the drama unfold. Nosey people are similar, except there mission is to get information going. The more people they tell, the more people are going to be talking about it, the more likely it is they are going to get back information they want.
2)Hiding Information
This part is Nosey only. Gossipers usually do not do this. I hide information just because I can't verify that what my friends tell me is fact, and I've had people spread gossip about me and I wouldn't want to do the same to others. Nosey people are different. They withhold information because when they have the info, they have the power. If there information is good enough, they can pretty much manipulate everyone and everything with it. I can't sit here and say that gossipers don't do this, but more often then not gossipers are just excited to everyone the story and that happens to effect peoples lives, where as Nosey people use the information to effect peoples lives intentionally or just to find out more about there lives intentionally.
3) Facts
Both gossipers and Nosey people disregard the authenticity of what they've been told, they just believe it as fact. Gossipers would spread that "fact" like wildfire. Nosey people would actually use it to obtain more fact, even if there original fact is true or not.
4)How I've been effected
So some would say not all Noseyness is bad. But consider this: I just recently discovered that a few girls that are friends of mine from college who are extremely nosey have been facebook stalking me and reading my blogs. They might even read this one when they find out it's been written. To be honest, I don't care, and that's cool and all, but I don't really know what to make of it. When men do this it's called stalking, when women do it, its called finding dirt. I enjoy when people read my blogs because I enjoy the feedback. But in a scenario such as this with such nosey girls, I'm inclined to say that they are "finding dirt"; Because they kept it a secret that they were doing so. What is the point of that? Since there my friends already there obviously not looking to see if I was cool or not; so I feel like they were just looking for some kind of dirt to use on me, and it disappoints me that girls(or should I say nosey people) do this. Even though I might be wrong about there true intention and would be sorry if I was, I can't see there intention being a good one. So I think it's safe to say that Noseyness is bad.
