For kosmickway

Prompt: Profiler - character study of any character -"holocaust on a hairpin trigger."

Frannie huddled miserably in the stoop, trying to avoid being completely soaked as rain hit the pavement in front of her with needle like sharpness. She wondered if her father was still alive. More than anything she wanted to be by his side, to say she was sorry, to have him yell at her, anything but this awful unending limbo. For more than two decades, her father had dodged bullets in the military and law enforcement until last night- until that awful moment. She'd shot at cans with her father when she was a little girl with the same gun she'd shot him with. It had seemed so hard to pull the trigger when she was little and wanted to, but last night it had snapped so easily under her finger. Her dad would be okay, wouldn't he? He had to, she thought anxiously closing her eyes against the pain.
