It's rainy as hell and I'm spacy from taking Dayquill, but still having a good time. I hate being sick, even if it's just a little cold, because your only option to feel better is to take medicine that makes you groggy and spaced out. Hmm... Well contrary to what Michelle's doctor said. Dayquil does contain the following drugs... 325 mg of Acetaminophen, which acts just like aspirin as a pain reliever and fever reducer and is the main active ingredient in Tylenol. 15mg of Dextromethorphan hydrobromide, which acts as a cough suppressant. In fact it is the over the counter version of Codeine, without the harmful addictive effects. Some doctors do believe that cough suppressants in general are simply placebos but that matter is still highly debatable. Finally it contains 30 mg of Pseudoephedrine hydrochloride which is a nasal decongestant. It's over the counter name in the US is Sudafed. You can see how they got the name. The only thing DayQuil doesn't have are antihistamines which combats sneezing and runny nose. They don't have this because Antihistamines can cauase drowziness. So you'll only find that in NyQuil. Now some of the doses are a little smaller like the Extra Strength Tylenol for example does give you 500 mg of acetaminophen while the DayQuil only gives you 325. And as far as the Pseudoephedrine goes... well in Sudafed you'd get 60 mg of the stuff in Dayquil you get half of that. So it's an all in one drug with basically less of the medicine that's sometimes used to fight the individual ailments. But that's all I can research for now. Peace!!
