Spring Surprise

(from the Monty Python sketch "Crunchy Frog", aka "Whizzo Chocolates" available here as text or the YouTube version here):

Praline: Well why don't you move into more conventional areas of confectionery, like praline or lime cream; a very popular flavour I'm led to understand.(superintendent enters) I mean look at this one, 'cockroach cluster', (superintendent exits) 'anthrax ripple'. What's this one, 'spring surprise'?

Milton: Ah - now, that's our specialty - covered with darkest creamy chocolate. When you pop it in your mouth steel bolts spring out and plunge straight through-both cheeks.

I can think of a lot of allegories to life, my tendencies etc. Most of them would be so worn out ("like a blender", "like the sea", "like a needle piercing your lung" and so on) and even worse - they won't convey even 1/10 of what I want to convey. But sometimes life is like a box of Spring Surprise Chocolates.
