Yesterday should be a National Day.

I was quite literally in tears. The moment Harry Kewell won the first penalty goal, I cried a little (...and then a little more), and cheered so loud my neighbours came celebrating with me. Well, they came knocking and mum scared them off so much we had to leave the house. Figures.

There are some crazyass soccer fans living on (or around) my street it's AWESOME! We sat around on my front lawn watching the awards ceremony on a lappy, drinking beer and vodka that was kind of... lukewarm. Hmm. Most of them had been drinking since 6 or 7 and were pretty far gone by 11. A honking car drove past us with the driver yelling "GERMANY MAAAAAATE!!!" and we all screamed and jumped around like maniacs. Some of the guys (and one girl) are going down to the pub and not coming back for days if they can help it. I'd join them in a heartbeat if I didn't have to study. Yes, I know. I am lame.

The pride I feel for the boys is beyond description by words. 32 years of disappointment is finally a thing of the past. FIFA World Cup 2006, I'm gonna be watchin' ya like the fake rabid soccer fan that I am!!

Heading back to the stupid fucking Neuroanatomy books now. Looking forward to lots more stress-induced sleepless nights and head-bashing against walls. Excellent.
