i've started looking around for workshops, today i discovered a nice 150sqm unit for lease at $300/w that is currently in use as a car restoration garage. the owner/occupier will be vacating it for a larger unit and it's perfect for what i want, in a culdesac and i'm allowed to make as much noise as i like. it's probable that i would attract the attention of bikers so there is plenty of gravel lawn to park their bikes on, with 3 car spaces for customers.
i have a blood nephew (with broken jaw) that will arrive shortly and by the time i'm ready to open i can offer him a job as a dogs-body. he can answer the phone, hold something as i weld, video record progress and do some artwork and fetch lunch orders. he's currently interested in tattoo-piercing but i'm sure he'll enjoy working around a bike shop.
if he is too hopeless i have another nephew via my brother's marriage who is actually perfect for the job, he is a graphic artist and film producer (ok he records his skateboard stunts for youtube) and loves extreme stuff.
both could do with some male peerage as they have no fathers. i'd pay minimum wage and send either to tafe to improve their skills around the shop and for their future endevours.
