We Play with Boobies - a night of female fronted entertainment
Thursday July 8, 2010
Featured:
Sticky Henderson - singer & bass player
Red Herring - burlesque dancer
The Z-Rays - bouncy surf pop band
Kitty Kerosene - LED poi spinning
High Heels Lo Fi - whatever the hell lunacy we are
Cyn: day four of a mega heatwave, thank goodness for air conditioning. there is NO
way i would have been able to sing otherwise!
Mandy: Gotta say, I miss having a day job when the heat's that hot. At least offices are always air conditioned. But having an air conditioned rockstar night job to go to is pretty danged awesome too.
Cyn: i cannot believe how awesome all of the other acts were. i was totally
impressed.
Mandy: They were all truly cool in the amazing sense. Sticky was brilliantly quirky, the ZRays were ass-kickin', Red Herring was smokin' despite the aircon, and Kitty Kerosene was so hot she coulda set fire to the place even though she was using lil' LED lights. The whole night was pretty much the epicenter of awesome.
Cyn: a chick in a cute blue sundress lying on her back in the midst of a brilliant
guitar solo is SO HOT
Mandy: I loved when she climbed up and jumped off of Roy's kick drum. I'd try that, but I'm afraid if I did that with the Harlot, I'd break an ankle.
Cyn: what a great crowd of people! everyone was so chatty & fantastic!
Mandy: They were a fun crowd, and we didn't even know everyone, which is kinda first! New rock victims--yay!
Cyn: by the third or fourth song, when the tequila shot Mandy forced upon me
kicked in, my guitar playing got sloppier than usual. i choose to believe that
over the crowd, the singing, the drumming, the bass, and the air conditioner
that sounded like a lawnmower that most people didn't notice. i swear i was
trying to count my drinks very carefully & not overdo it!
Mandy: Bwhahahah! I totally owned The Rock that night. OK, I didn't so much own it as get you and Roy drunk and then rifle your pockets and steal your Rock while you weren't looking, but whatever--possession of The Rock is nine-tenths of the Roll...or something.
Cyn: people wearing our t-shirts makes me super-mega happy. it honestly fills me
with genuine glee.
Mandy: It is rather danged cool. Makes us seem almost like a real band!
Cyn: cannot wait to post clips of video!
Mandy: Oh yeah, I can't wait 'till my future potential employers see those clips. Heh.
Cyn: I cannot believe that you admit to being in this band on your resume!
Cyn: hey, were those the same mega-camera guys from the NXN2 show? we need to see
their shots!
Mandy: No kidding! Who were those mega-lensed men? And where are they posting those pictures?
Cyn: Roy wore pink for this show! and by "pink" i mean "was totally sunburnt"
Mandy: Snork, that sunburn could only have been awesomer if he'd been cuddling his little pony while he got the sunburn. Then it would look just like his tattoo!
Hey--Roy said it was a good show. I think he's starting to like us!!
Roy phoned in his comments:
Clinton's was our best show. i thought mandy did a really good job - she was moving around more. i think we played like a band - really good.
