IC:

Character name: Estellise Sidos Heurassein (or 'Estelle' for short)
Fandom: Tales of Vesperia
Timeline: After Yuri and co. free her from Alexei’s control. (Post Zaphias)
Age: 18
~*Magical*~ abilities and strengths:
Like most female protagonists in a wide expanse of games, it may be of no surprise that Estelle is well-versed in magic. She specializes in support artes, and when it comes to offensive magic she relies on light-based spell.

However, when it comes to her healing artes, the teen has an alternative that was very much a driving force for the main plot of the game. While it no longer , Estelle was once capable of manually converting the world's aer to magic, though from the point I'm taking her it's been adjusted so that she is now only capable of pulling energy from her own life force to achieve this.

Her complete arte list can be found here.

But aside from magic Estelle is also a capable fighter, having trained with a sword most of her life, and so she can hold out on her own on a fight that's purely physical. Also, because of her sheltered life, the teen has long since relied on books to provide her company, and so she's intelligent with the capability of reciting entire passages by heart regardless of the content. However, it doesn't take one long to realize the major flaw in this.

How would they use their abilities?:
There's no exaggeration when stating that Estelle is almost incapable of having any malicious intent of her own volition. Instead she'll do whatever she can to help those in need, whether it's defending the weak, healing the sick or simply being a good samaritan in general.

Appearance:
Estelle possesses many traits that are often seen in girls her age. Standing at about 5'5, she has a slender figure that is nowhere near as 'voluptuous' as some much to her disappointment. Her skin is fair, which can only be expected for someone who's spent a majority of her time indoors. Probably the most notable traits are her eyes, which are a shade of sea-green, and pink hair that falls just beneath her chin. As a princess Estelle carries herself with a subtle air of nobility at times, though as the game progresses she also reveals a free-spirited persona and wide-eyed wonder at her surroundings.

She's certainly not one to hide her emotions so easily, and so it's common that she'll reveal exactly how she feels, from happiness to confusion and everything else within her reach.

Background:
It doesn't seem as if lessons are learned with the applicant trying so desperately to write yet another history section for a character the very day that it's due, and yet life is still young and the ability to procrastinate is as tantalizing as ever.

On the planet Terca Lumeris it's as one would expect from a world that relies on several fantasy elements. The form of energy consumed is called aer, and to this day an ancient technology called 'blastia' is used to consume the aer in order to perform an array of tasks to sustain present human lifestyles, from providing light or water to protecting entire cities from the hordes of monsters that scour the lands.

Estellise Sidos Heurassein, a princess in line to the throne along with her cousin Ioder, was born and raised in the Imperial capital of Zaphias. For eighteen long years her life was confined within the castle walls, though that did nothing to dampen her cheerful attitude that remained apparent throughout much of her later adventures. She often spent her time scouring the library for anything she could get her hands on, and whenever she wasn't reading she was training to be a respectable fighter under the watchful eye of Drake. And, likely because of the combination of her title and open nature, she eventually befriended the upstart Imperial Knight named Flynn Scifo where he became a constant in her life that eventually triggered the start of the game's events.

Having previously overheard that Flynn's life was in danger, the princess immediately went to warn him of the enemy's advances. Yet when she pleaded for the assistance of the other Imperial Knights she was treated with hostility as they attempted to contain her. However, it was through the help of Flynn's childhood friend Yuri Lowell that she was able to leave the castle in order to intercept the Knight during his pilgrimage. On the way to Halure, the city of blossoms and one of the various stops amongst the pilgrimage, they met up with a young guild member named Karol in a supposed 'haunted' forest. While seemingly arrogant at first, they were quick discover the true motive behind his actions in the forest, as the barrier blastia protecting the city had yet to bloom because of the blood spilt near the trees roots from a recent monster attack. While Yuri had likely picked up some of the allusions, one couldn't help but be astonished by how Estelle's was able to single-handedly revive the giant tree's blossoms. This is one of the many foreshadowing events that'll lead them through the mystery of Estelle's enigmatic talent.

Realizing they had missed Flynn, Estelle and company trek to Aspio where the supposed 'famed' mage named Mordio that Yuri had been chasing down for an aqua blastia happened to reside. What they discover, however, was that it was nothing more than an impostor, and that the real Mordio was a brash girl named Rita that was nearly three years younger than Estelle herself. Heartless at first, Rita refused to treat her other party members with anything other than contempt or indifference Yet it was during a heated battle when she was severely injured did her interest pique with Estelle when the girl 'seemingly' used her blastia to heal her. It was at that did Rita worm her way into their party to discover the truth behind Estelle's mystery abilities.

It was when the group eventually reached Nor Harbor that they finally reunited with Flynn, though the Knight was less than pleased with Yuri and his past endeavors in Zaphias. Not hesitating to stand up for her friend, Estelle was quick to defend his intentions, effectively pardoning him much to the dismay of some.

A series of events including infiltrating the corrupt magistrate Ragou's mansion, and discovering Ioder himself aboard the ship they found themselves in, they eventually reach Torim Harbor of the neighboring continent. After pulling themselves away from the Imperial Knights who had followed them, they reach the ruins of a nearby city only to be intercepted by yet another corrupt official, this time a knight by the name of Cumore, though the group narrowly escaped a more dangerous end and instead were taken to Heilord. Until then Estelle had kept her true identity a secret, though for most it came to no surprise to discover that her title went higher than just a 'normal' noble.

If there was one trait Estelle was absolutely tenacious with it was her need to aid others, even if they rarely showed kindness in return, and this was evident when the blastia within the hold had begun to malfunction and Rita stepped in an attempt to reverse it. Yet while the mage was successful she had been injured severely from a final blast, knocking her unconscious. Worried terribly for her friend, Estelle refused to leave her side during the entire spectacle, going so far as to stay up and use her healing artes to the point of sheer exhaustion to ensure the latter's good health. It was at that point where her patience was rewarded, finally gaining Rita's friendship which she will hold dearly through her travels.

While originally intending to return to Zaphias, Estelle instead accompanied Rita in her mage duties before they reached Dahngrest where they finally caught up with the aqua blastia that Yuri had been chasing after this entire time. Yet with that they come across something even bigger than what they could previously imagined, though the looming threat was immediately destroyed and everything calmed for at least a time. With the Knights having stepped into Dahngrest, it was soon apparent that Estelle had no more reason to keep traveling. But just as she was about to part ways they were all caught off guard when a vicious flying 'monster' appeared out of nowhere and attempted to kill Estelle, calling her an 'insipid poison'. Understandably confused, Estelle desired to find this monster, called 'Phaeroh' by the new party member Judith, and ask it why it gave her such a title.

They would eventually find themselves in yet another continent, where another party member named Raven would request the audience of Belius, the apparent guild leader of those residing in the city of Nordopolica. But because it's a requirement to wait until the next full moon the group instead traverses to the desert in order to search for Phaeroh. After another series of events involving the nearby oasis town practically being enslaved by Cumore they stumble across a town called Yormgen, which had previously been mentioned when they were crossing the continent. It was there that they cross paths with a mysterious man, who offered them clues by titling Estelle as the 'Child of the Full Moon'.

There was an important point in Yuri's and Estelle's relationship as they traveled back to return to the oasis town and, eventually, Nordopolica. By then Yuri's vigilante traits had begun to surface, and because of this Estelle had assured him that, even if he did this, she knew he wouldn't harm her.

Having returned to Nordopolica just as the Full Moon turned, they were finally granted to see Belius. However, much to their surprise, they quickly discover that Belius was actually a 'monster' similar to that of Phaeroh. But it's through her that they also learn that her kind were known as the Entelexia before their meeting was interrupted by one of the monster hunting guilds determined to take Belius's life. What followed was all out guild battle, and during this Belius was severely injured. Yet even when Estelle had good intentions when trying to heal her, her plan instead backfired and Belius lost control, forcing their party to defeat her. Having no time to grieve her actions right then, the party soon left Nordopolica, though Judith temporarily defected before spending much of their time trying to reunite with her.

Eventually their attempts to reach Phaeroh were successful, yet the meeting itself struck the party when the Entelexia revealed the true extent of Estelle’s powers. As a ‘Child of the Full Moon’ she was capable of converting aer to energy similar to blastia, yet the method was improbable and the conversion affected the planet’s aer to practically dangerous imbalances. If left to her own devices, Phaeroh stated that this would bring upon the Adaphagos, an entity that nearly destroyed the world once before. However, its advance was halted due to the previous Children of the Full Moon being killed. With that logic, the Entelexia believed that destroying the threat would solve the problem, though the party refused to let that happen.

However, while the party worked towards a goal to save Estelle, Raven revealed his ‘true’ colors and kidnapped her to take her back to Alexei, the true mastermind behind all the conflicts that had occurred throughout their adventures. The climax of their travels occurred when Alexei took her back to Zaphias in order to use her powers to revive Zaude. Yet despite all the dangers Yuri and company reached the capital even after they’ve been blown away once before. However, Estelle had been completely possessed, forced to fight against her friends upon Alexei’s whims. But they didn’t give up, and even as she begged for them to kill her, to plead so that she could no longer hurt those she loved, they refused to take that route. Their efforts finally paid off when they managed to pull her back, and through the talents and determination possessed by Rita she managed to compose a formula that required Estelle to pull energy from her own life force instead of the aer around her. But while they had planned to leave her behind in order to follow Alexei to Zaude, she refused to stay in Zaphias and instead joined her friends to continue their journey.

Personality:
When it comes down to it, Estelle is a painfully simple woman who proudly wears her heart on her sleeve. Her upbringing plays a large role in her personality, probably more so than others considering the restrictions placed upon her throughout her life. A bred and born noble, a princess who'd once been in line to the throne, she's spent all her life within the confines of a castle, having only been freed from that under a series of fortunate events. With that her views of the world and its people are understandably, but also ignorantly, different from those who’ve experienced the harsh realities themselves.

Estelle is both intelligent and not, as it depends on the manner in which she applies her knowledge that defines her as being either informative or misinformed. Reading has always been her passion, and so much of what she's learned throughout the years has been through books. She's knowledgeable in the sense that she can easily recall these facts, but when it comes to applying it she's sorely lacking. In simple terms, she's book smart but not entirely street smart, as she's yet to experience much of the gray shades between the black and white. She takes everything at face value, and so any undertones such as sarcasm or exaggeration are regarded as the solid truth. This makes for an air of gullibility, for even the most ridiculous circumstances are met with fascination and a drive to learn even more. Her naivety is a prominent trait of her character, and it's a common thing for friends to tease her about it, though other times it can be a frustrating thing to deal with.

To describe her as the epitome of empathy isn't a farfetched assumption. Estelle cares deeply for those around her, and it matters not if they're the closest friend or a complete stranger. Her kindness has no bounds, and more often than not her priorities lie more with helping others than paying any mind to herself. She's an optimist at heart, honestly believing that anyone can become a good person if they put their mind and heart to it, and openly offers her own confidence to see it through. However, at times she struggles with handling deeper issues, issues that don't involve just 'doing the right thing'. It's not uncommon for Estelle to be swept by the moment and try to take initiative with what she believes is right, and so it's not uncommon for her to be reprimanded before realizing the overwhelming responsibilities for thoughtlessly taking on these tasks.

Her travels may have allowed her to mature and grow more aware of her surroundings, but in the end nothing can really change her true nature. Even when she faced the hardships of her identity, even when she was identified as a poison to the world and even when she was used against those she cared for, Estelle has come out of it all with the help of those closest to her. There are many times where she's mourned for the mistakes she's made, but her selfless intentions can be and are recognized. She's just an honest and good person, and though she can be unsure of herself at times, she'll eventually draw her gaze forward and do what she believes is right.

Why should that character be in this game: For OCs only.

Why do you want to continue their history here: For characters from other games only.

For applicants considering an alternate version of a character already in game, please use this as your chance to explain the key differences between your character and the one already in play:

Have you read up on how the game works?:
I sure have! The plug-in for the Guide is called the Flaming Ferret, and you can earn money by missions, begging, or helping the unfortunate before realizing they dropped their wallet just as they fall into the nearest Super Nova.

1st person sample:
[ooc: sample originally for discedo:]

[As the feed turns on the viewer is able to catch a glimpse of Estelle sitting at a table, hands folded on her lap as she smiles at the camera.]

Even though it must be normal for so many other people I just can't help but be amazed by these communicators. I do hope that one day we'll have the technology to create devices like this back home. It would certainly make communicating much easier for everyone.

[She eventually catches her own rambling, however, and Estelle makes a soft 'oh' before diverting to her intended subject.]

I know this might not be the best time, but I wanted to suggest something to try and lift everyone's spirits. There may be books available for us, but I think it might be fun to write down our own tales and experiences. I'm certain that sharing stories with others will take everyone's minds off the situation for at least a little while. I just feel that it would be fascinating considering how we all come from so many different worlds.

If anyone is interested please feel free to say so. I don't mind if I'm the one to write them!

3rd person sample:
"Ah, you want me to cook…?"

Though she tried to look hopeful in front of the owner of the tavern, Estelle couldn't help but grow all the more anxious with the task at hand. She absentmindedly clenched the apron of her uniform, but other than that she graced the man with a quick nod and smile before going straight to work. It seemed as if the appointed cook was out sick, and with a full staff of waiters and waitresses already tending to everyone she seemed to have been the only one capable of the job. Maybe that was why it made her quite nervous!

But it wasn't that she was a particularly bad at cooking; she was confident that Yuri had taught her well enough and she often did her best to learn through trial and error. However, there was something different about cooking for her traveling companions and cooking for paying customers, and so it brought much more pressure in that sense. Yet it was also more exciting, as it gave her a chance to prove herself as a capable cook, as she wanted very badly to please everyone by doing it right.

Understandably, the first few orders came at a snail's pace, for Estelle was as meticulous as she was possibly allowed to be when it came to plating her food. No carrot or potato was out of place in her stews, and each bowl had to be filled with the appropriate amount of soup before she allowed anyone to take it away. It easily brought frustration for many of the other workers, but as the night drew on the princess eased into the position with much more confidence. By the end of it all she was exhausted, slumping into a nearby chair to rest her feet, but despite that she couldn't will her smile off her face.

"Thank you for allowing me the time and opportunity to cook for you," She happily said as she bowed to the owner. The extra money that was offered to her was kindly declined; just being granted a chance to help was enough

Questions?: Have I ever told you that I loved you?
