Name: Aegis
Age: N/A (though her manufacture date is September 10th, 2000); she appears to be about 17
Gender: Technically none? But she's designed as a female, so.
Fandom: Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 3
Timeline: Right after the return from the Kyoto field trip: November 21st, 2009.
History: My level of aptitude has increased.

Character Personality: Aegis is a machine, a tactical weapon, and thus her purpose in life has been programmed into her: to defeat the Shadows. However, she's not as robotic as one might expect; in fact, others are unaware of her condition until it's pointed out to them. There are things about her that make her a special case and more human than just her appearance. For example, she has memories and more importantly the ability to wield a persona, something which is a testament to her soul. On top of this, she has a rather curious nature and is very capable of learning. Still, even her memory banks resemble that of a human since she is unable to process unlimited information. Once she begins to attend school, she mentions that her grades on midterms aren't likely to be superior on account of this as well as because her knowledge is mostly expended on combat skills. On that note, when it comes to combat situations, Aegis excels. She is focused, determined, and primarily concentrates on offense, lending valuable firepower, but she is able to handle support as well.

She is undeniably an asset to the team, and since her placement within it, she experiences incredible growth. While she remains loyal to her purpose, she begins to follow her own beliefs, gradually shifting from hard logic to a more emotional approach. She's always questioned the reasoning behind the actions and thoughts of others, since they started off as concepts beyond her comprehension, but all that knowledge really stayed with her and she begins to ask those same questions of herself and actually worries about whether it's applicable to her. She begins to desire becoming human. This desire mainly stems from her attachments to the other members of S.E.E.S., those she forms strong bonds of friendship with, something which really fuels her emotional progress. To put it in perspective, she's doing the same job she always was doing, but her reason for doing so changes. Whereas she would fight the Shadows simply because she was programmed to do so, she realizes that she wishes to fight them because doing so will protect her friends. However, at this current point, she's still in the transitional stage.

At her core, Aegis is very much like a child, still naïve of the world and very curious about why things are the way they are. Many concepts that seem commonplace to most people can be lost on her, but she is eager to learn of them. While her knowledge of the world starts off rather limited, she often questions others to fill in the blanks and she generally remembers what she's been told. However, she does have difficulty concerning exceptions to the rule and so often takes her newfound knowledge at face value. For example, when she is allowed to attend school, she doesn't understand why the dog can't attend as well. On top of that, she is oblivious to subtleties in conversation such as flirting. Other than aspects such as those, she appears to be just like a normal girl, despite not technically belonging to a gender classification of any kind.

Character Abilities: Aegis was designed for combat and thusly excels at combat. In canon, she carries various guns as attachments to her hands and arms and her accuracy is very precise. Because she uses projectile weapons, she doesn't often have to contend with stumbling, but she is shown to be rather quick and agile on her feet as well, should the need arise. On top of her already impressive skills, she has a special feature known as Orgia Mode, which releases her limiters and allows her to attack at full power. This only lasts a few rounds, however, and has its downsides, listed in Weaknesses below. Along with her own power, she is also able to summon a persona.

As mentioned, her memory banks are similar to humans and therefore her processing isn't much greater than a human's. She is able to give tactical advice, especially concerning how to most efficiently use her own powers, but she's hardly all-knowing.

As a side note, she's also able to be submerged in water, so she isn't hindered on that aspect simply because she's mechanical.

Character Weaknesses: Starting with the aforementioned Orgia Mode, it has its own weaknesses. It only lasts a few turns and once completed, Aegis requires time to cool down in which she cannot move at all, leaving her vulnerable and unable to help the others. While in Orgia Mode, she is also unable to obey commands; it's as if her focus is being entirely pinned onto the enemy or enemies before her and striking them down is her only priority.

Aside from that, she's not emotionally mature just yet. While she can sympathize with the feelings of her friends, she often can't reciprocate the emotion herself. She understands the difference between logical and emotional reasoning, but she's not yet aware that she is capable of the latter.

[ WEAPON SECTION ]

Why your character should be a Weapon: She was designed and built to be a weapon. She demonstrates exceptional prowess in combat, since a large portion of her knowledge deals specifically with tactical information.

What is your character's Weapon form?: Aegis's primary weapon form is a 7.62 mm RPD, a light machine gun. Her bullets are formed through her soul energy and she's capable of firing 100 small burst shots, either rapidly or single-fire, though rapid-fire from a great distance causes shakiness, affecting the accuracy. After 100 shots are fired, she requires 10 seconds to recharge.

Through soul resonance, Aegis is able to activate Orgia Mode which increases her capacity to 10,000 shots, allowing her to fire up to 5,000 rounds per minute. These rounds have to be used carefully, of course, since Aegis requires 5 minutes before she is able to return to her normal form. It's a risky move and serves as a sort of trump card.

Note: I wasn't sure what number might be appropriate for Orgia Mode, so if it's too much, let me know and I can take it down to whatever the mods feel is reasonable!

[ SOUL INFORMATION ]

Soul Description: Loyal, Efficient, Curious, Reliable, Focused, Latent

Soul Appearance: Her soul is yellow and has a round disc on either side of the face, matching the headset that Aegis is equipped with. It mimics a bit of her hairstyle, and the face remains in her default expression.

First Person: [VIDEO]

[Aegis adjusts the camera just a bit, centering her position.]

Greetings. My name is Aegis. I was wondering if anyone could offer some assistance as a fraction of my memory seems to be... misplaced. I am unable to identify my current location, and I do not have any recollection of having been transported here.

[She looks mildly distraught.]

There is someone I must find. If someone is listening, I would greatly appreciate any information about this area. Thank you.

Third Person: This was a very new sensation. Although there had been an instance or two in the past when she would power down and reactivate in a new location, it would only take a moment for her sensors to determine her whereabouts. So long as she was in a place where she had already visited, the information stored within her could piece it together. It was a map of sorts, but it wasn't like she had her own satellite to determine her latitude and longitude; her memory banks were limited so only the minimum requirements were added if the knowledge was not vital to combat. And so, aside from a basic world view, her map was limited to Japan and was only slightly more detailed in the Iwatodai region. Still, it didn't take a computer processor to alert her to the fact that she was now very far from home. For the first time, she believed she may be... lost.

However, this was the first time that there was no one by her side at the time of her reactivation. There was no one to explain anything to her or to give her a directive. Not only was she lost, but she was aimless as well. Her purpose was to defeat the Shadows, to fight alongside the other members of S.E.E.S. If she were to become unable to fulfill that task, there wouldn't be a reason for her existence. Such were the thoughts that briefly crossed her mind, but she didn't entertain them long at all as she had every intention of returning to the force.

Besides, it wasn't as though she was inexperienced with being on her own, so of course she realized what she needed to do, and after the initial shock, she set right out to do it. She knew her mission and therefore knew she had to return home in order to accomplish it, but neither of those things could occur until she first discerned her location. It was clear that she was in a town of sorts, so logic would dictate that within it would be residents who should be provide the information she needed.
