My vacation is coming to an end. It shouldn't be too much longer now. I'm so happy that I've made so many friends. And I got to do so much, like ride bikes and catch snowflakes. I got to be cursed. I got to see some of my siblings, even live with them for a little while. I had coffee and tea... I got to see a few seasons out side of the usual ( Read more... )

I don't want you to be sad, Mara. You've got a lot to be happy about. We'll see each other again.

Perhaps, but you always manage to make me feel better about what I am.

That's because you aren't meant to feel bad about what you are.

You and Thomas seem to be two of the only people who actually say that.

I think you for it.

Have you ever heard of a man named Galileo?

Vaguely... he had something to do with astronomy, didn't he?

Yep. He studied the stars. During his time, it was taught and sanctioned by the church that the earth was the center of the universe and all of the other planets revolved around it. Well, Galileo, the wise guy that he was studied diligently and found out that it wasn't so. People didn't like this. And they liked that he tried to tell people even less. He lived in a world that said he was wrong, awful and a heretic.

But he was right. He changed how things are. All of those other people? Not so notable, hm?

History may have borne him out, but it must have been a miserable life.

He lived in truth. He had no regrets. I think you can do that. I hope that you think that you can too.

Perhaps when I'm old and retired, I'll be able to look back. But now... one of my tutors had a saying, that in time all pain diminished. Is that true?

You could say all things with time diminish. Pain is one of them. Time itself won't make it diminish. It's nights of crying, days of pushing through, arms holding you tight, it's a lot of things.

Wish I could... skip to the end sometimes, you know. Thomas says I'll adapt. I trust him.

You can. I know that you can.

Maybe later there will be someone you can help because you know how they feel or what they're going through.

Maybe - I don't know that I'd be good at it, but I suppose I could try.

Trying is always appreciated. Promise me you'll keep trying things.
