oh these hallowed halls...

so far this semester my classes have been dragging except for calculus. first in the mornings i have microeconomics that i thought was going to be interesting and challenging but i guess i was wrong. the teacher teaches us like we're in 3rd grade. it gets really annoying. and she's one of those teachers that talks to the board dictating what she's writing. She also thinks we're real math idiots that even for simple addition she has to go through it step by step. it gets a little annoying. oh oh she also has her own sort of symbols that she's been telling us about since day 1, like: +ve (is what she uses for positive), -ve(negative), #(number {i just laughed when she explains this one}), arrow pointing up means increasing, arrow down means decreasing, etc. this would all be ok BUT EVERY SINGLE TIME SHE WRITES ONE OF HER "SYMBOLS" SHE EXPLAINS THEM... over and over and over again. we've had her class for a month now. eckk. it just gets so frustrating.

my next class is world religion. now she treats us like we're freaking preschoolers. every meeting is story-telling time. all she does is read word for word every religion myth she can find on the internet or from some powerpoint she made. i'm not exaggerating the only time we get a break from her telling stories we have stories told to us by our own classmates in our presentations. and last week tuesday she says out of the blue that we'll be having a test on chapters 1-4 the following week. we were just thinking "you never taught us anything, telling stories doesn't count as teaching" but then she said it was open book anyway. hahaha. so get this, it was the dumbest test ever. 60 items, 30 true/false, 30 multiple choice. Open book, Group discussion is allowed, and she let us take it home to be submitted in two day. hahahahaha. i appreciate the easy A but i think i did want to learn something even just a little. We actually had a good class today because a student from her other religion class recommended this documentary to watch. it was pretty good. we didn't finish it though. it's called "what the bleep do we know" pick it up if you guys see it, it's pretty interesting. all about quantum physics and how we can shape reality sort of. well it just got me thinking a whole lot.

after that we have anthropology. our teacher started out slow but she's picking up her act so that's good, except when we have videos and stuff to watch. we have worksheets along with the videos but the entire time the video is running she's talking to the class at the same time. hahaha. it's really horrible, the class just shares all answers after the show just to fill out everything. but she is really passionate about her subject because she is a practicing physical anthropologist. and the reason why she's talking during the videos is because she knows the guys talking in these documentaries. and i guess that is pretty cool. oh and i got a 97 on our first test wooohooo.

calculus is still as challenging as ever and i still have the best teacher. we had a test today i had to memorize 47 formulas and a few identities. hahaha. that's the only thing i hate he's the only math teacher in the college that doesn't allow index cards. but i guess he has his reasons. and my calculues buddies are all still there. it's a pretty fun class.

that's my college experience so far this sem, i hope i make it through.
