Why I hate Dr. Pepsi:
Dr. Pepsi has this contest going where you can win a Mini Cooper Convertible. Now everyone should know by now about my love for Mini Coopers and so although I didn't go out of my way to drink Dr. Pepsi I did buy one when I was going to buy a soda anyway. And instead of just opening your cap and having it say "Your dream has come true and you are now the proud owner of a brand new Mini Cooper Convertible that you drive around and make all your friends green with jealousy" or saying "Loser!" it simply gave me a code where I had to go to their website and enter the code and then find out if you won. I took my cap and went to the site...and suffice to say I still don't know whether I won or not. I wrote them a letter and nearly a week later I got my response. So I decided to share both emails:
my email to Dr. Pepper:
I am very dissapointed in your recent contest. I
bought a Dr. Pepper and when trying to determine
if I won I ran into so many errors and problems, all
related to poor design and faulty programming of
the website, I was unable to find out whether I
won the Mini convertible as advertised in the
contest.
When I tried to enter my code I was first directed to
register with the site. I started on Safari, a web
browser commonly used by many Apple computer
users, and afer 3 tries all I got where errors. On
the off chance that I was able to get past the first
step of the registration problem, the error would
occur at the second stage, suddenly sending me
back to step one. I then tried Internet Explorer,
hoping that it was simply a problem with the
browser, however I recieved the same errors
using IE as well. I am endlessly frusterated and
I'm considering dropping the whole thing. I've
since decided that if your people in charge are so
incapable of making a decent and easy to use
website then you are equally incapable of making
decent soda, so I will hence forth drink other
brands that Dr. Pepper.
I hope you take this feedback seriously, as I'm
sure I'm not the only person who has experienced
these difficulties.
their reply to me:
Thank you for contacting us regarding the Dr Pepper Mini Cooper promotion.
We apologize if you have had difficulty with the web site. We are currently working to address these concerns and hope you will try again.
We sincerely regret any inconvenience this has caused.
I'd like to point out that as nice as it was for them to respond to me I still don't know if I won that damn Mini Cooper Convertible.
I suggest everyone avoid Dr. Pepper cause they suck at life.
