The Hurt Locker
I just finished watching The Hurt Locker. They say it's a near-perfect movie, and I'd have to agree to that with a resounding FUCK YEAH! Because OMG!!!!!!! I laughed, I cried (I NEVER cry during war movies), I fucking flailed through the whole thing! AND it's directed by a woman! *fist pump*
Jeremy Renner is a delight. Just a snuggly, adorable, badass, fuck-you-up-and-spit-you-out delight! He is in dangerous proximity of my Crush Zone (technical term). He needs to watch out. Crushing is about to commence. Wait. No. He's in The Assassination of Jesse James. Crushing has officially commenced.
The cinematography was stunning, the storyline was practically flawless, it was easy to follow, the characters were few and memorable, and the ending was good. I usually judge a movie based on the ending, because let's face it, that's what most people come out of a movie saying, "It was good, but the ending sucked!" This ending did not suck.
It's up for quite a few Oscars, including actor in a lead role, cinematography, directing, music, best picture, and writing. I'm not sure it has a chance at winning any of those, considering who it's up against (especially director, and lead actor). Unfortunate really, because I think it's quite deserving. But...they didn't ask my opinion.....
GO RENT THIS MOVIE! I love it. I love it hard.
