Title: The Two of Us
Fandom: Supernatural
Characters: Sam and Dean Winchester
Spoilers: None
Notes: This is probably my favorite fanmix I've ever made. It all just sort of fell into place.
I wanted a very organic sound for these two -- sad, somewhat angsty, and a little bit hopeful. Each song is a story in itself, and could stand alone, but it's best when you listen to them all (and in order). Sam and Dean each have their songs to one another as well (I've noted which ones in the tracklist). Songs that tell each of their stories, as well as their feelings towards their brother.
Please comment if you take any songs. Let me know what you think.
Fire on the Mountain - Hanson Can we pick the pieces up
We're mending Babylon
Tryin' to right the wrong
Can we pick the pieces up
Live learn life love die dust gone
We're All in This Together - Old Crow Medicine Show We're all in this thing together
Walkin' the line between faith and fear
This life don't last forever
When you cry I taste the salt in your tears
Knockin' on Heaven's Door - Bob Dylan Mama, put my guns in the ground
I can't shoot them anymore.
That long black cloud is comin' down
I feel I'm knockin' on heaven's door.
Back to Babylon - Viggo Mortensen Do as we've always been told and done, no backward glances or second thoughts, leaving sad markers buried in the sand. Sleep now, dream of children with their heads still on, of grandmothers unburdening clotheslines at twilight, of full kettles slow-ticking over twig embers. Ignore boneless, nameless victims that venture out on bitter gravel to claim remains while we rest.
The Battle of Evermore - Led Zeppelin Oh, war is the common cry, pick up your swords and fly
The sky is filled with good and bad, mortals never know
Oh well, the night is long, the beads of time pass slow
Tired eyes on the sunrise, waiting for the eastern glow
The pain of war cannot exceed the woe of aftermath
The drums will shake the castle wall, the Ringwraiths ride in black
Crossroads - Don McLean ----- (Sam's song to Dean)
Can you remember who I was? can you still feel it?
Can you find my pain? can you heal it?
Then lay your hands upon me now
And cast this darkness from my soul.
You alone can light my way.
You alone can make me whole once again.
We’ve walked both sides of every street
Through all kinds of windy weather.
But that was never our defeat
As long as we could walk together.
Life by the Drop - Stevie Ray Vaughan ----- (Dean's song to Sam)
Up and down the road in our worn down shoes
Talkin about good things and singin the blues
you went your way and I stayed behind
We both knew it was just a matter of time
You're livin our dream oh you on top
my mind is achin,' Lord it won't stop
That's how it happens livin life by the drop
No wasted time, we're alive today
Churnin up the past, there's no easier way
Time's been between us, a means to an end
God it's good to be here walkin together my friend
Two of Us - The Beatles Two of us riding nowhere
Spending someone's
Hard earned pay
You and me Sunday driving
Not arriving
On our way back home
You and I have memories
Longer than the road that stretches out ahead
