Supernatural the musical!

Jun 18, 2010 18:00

I'm new to the SPN fandom, and even I'm sort of sick of hearing people bring up a musical episode, as much as I'm sure the older fans of the show are.

However...

I was listening to "A House is Not a Home" and "One Less Bell to Answer" from the Glee soundtrack today (the only two songs I forked out money to buy, because they're awesome and made me weep with joy), and I literally could not stop laughing at the image they put in my head.  I mean, this is seriously genius stuff that's happening in my head right now and it needs to happen in real life or people could die from the lack of awesome.

If I had the power to go back in time and make a musical episode (or two) of Supernatural, these are the songs I'd use, and this is how I'd use them:

*Slight spoilers may lie below?  Just...proceed with caution.

"One Less Bell to Answer/A House is Not a Home"

Season 4 opens with Sam lamenting Dean's death.  Lots of angsting, and crying, and singing, and Dean, god no, please don't go, don't leave me alone I can't live without you *sad, weepy puppy eyes*.
Then it cuts to Dean in Hell, singing to/about Sam, while he's being tortured, and there's lots of crying and intense power-ballading.
And then it continues; an awesome back-and-forth duet thing going on, the Winchesters totally in love with each other and crying because they don't have each other anymore, and yadda yadda yadda.  I don't know what else would happen in the episode, but that duet would bring the fucking house down!  Am I right?  Y/Y?

Then!

"A House is Not a Home"

Season 6 opener.  Dean is at Lisa's, meandering, and angsting all over everything.  He's singing to/about Castiel.  Or Sam.  Or both.  It isn't clear, but the audience knows he's missing these two guys - his brother, his angel, his lovers, whatever they are, everything they are, and he can't handle being alone and he just wants them back, and again there's lots of crying, and sad puppy eyes, and clutching at the doorframe (you know how they do in old movies, when they sing about their true love?).

Mothers will weep.  I'm telling you.  This needs to happen.  A musical episode of Supernatural is a bad idea, UNLESS it's these two songs, in this manner.

Now, time for a little Barbra.  Because it's Barbra and she makes the world go round, and no one else can do these songs quite like she can.
