I finally heard from my predecessor in Japan the other day. I will be working in two elementary schools and one junior high school. I'm really excited about this.
I've been kind of concerned about the dress code. Apparently, many schools require teachers to wear business suits everyday. I don't own even one, so I was concerned I would have to spend a lot of money buying a whole new wardrobe. It made me wonder if I'd ever be able to wear jeans again. But, maybe on the days I'm working with little kids a skirt and blouse would suffice? Something that's a little more comfortable and easier to move around in? Please?? Also, finding dress pants that fit me is impossible. Even petites are way too long and come over the bottom of my shoes. I don't care if my jeans get frayed at the edges, but it looks kinda of tacky to wear frayed dress pants around. On the other hand, Lindsay got a cute suit at H&M, so maybe I can find one or two there for not too much....
Anyway, as it turns out, I was hoping to work in a high school in a very small town, and I'm going to end up working in junior high and elementary level schools in a city of about 50,000, but I'm not really disappointed. I'm actually quite excited.
