Random smellies stuff.
So, I go wild over opium apparently. Who knew? I'm trying to convince myself that I really don't need a bottle of every BPAL with an opium note. I don't... do I?
I got an imp of Darkness and oh wow, just gorgeous. So it joins Langour and Silas Ruthyn in the opium den. God, does real opium smell like this?
I also caved and found some Halloween scents that I like. I was so discouraged by all the foodie scents that I missed some gems at first. I got Halloween: San Francisco, All Saints 2010, and The Byronic Antihero.
On the fence about All Saints. It's the frankincense, myrrh, and that Damascus rose note, that one can never decide if it's going to outright stink or just be a rather musky rose note on me. I think it's the same one that almost ruins Monna Vanna for me. Nevertheless, I need to give it another try and not sniff it until it dries.
Halloween: SF, oh oh oh my god, it smells like an ocean breeze, straight up for real. And rain. And wet leaves. The salty bit comes and goes, and the only complaint I have is that it doesn't last quite long enough. But I really don't care. I think I need a bottle.
The Byronic Antihero, wow, what a surprise! Carnation fourgere, patchouli, vetiver, yew? Erm, yikes. But I had to get a decant to see if I could justify a bottle, because the bottle art, oh the bottle art. Turns out this smells incredible. A dark, spicy carnation, deep and rich. I want. I don't fully understand why the stinky feet of patchouli and vetiver work here and in Silas Ruthyn and are unwashed stoner feet everywhere else, but whatever, I'm not complaining.
My thumb hurts and it's making typing difficult.
