jediknightmuse . My questions:
1. What's your favorite story/book that you've written?
2. What are your favorite characters that you've written?
3. If you could live anywhere in the world, where would you live?
4. If you could have 3 wishes granted, what would they be?
5. What is something you regret?
1. Asking what my favourite story or book I've written is like asking me to choose my favourite child, or song, or flavour of doughnut. But I'll have a go :) At the moment, my favourite book is the one I'm currently working on ("Art of Forgetting", keep up at the back!) But I think this is probably because I've improved so much as a writer since I wrote my first book that it's been easier to write. There are some bits of it I'm very proud of, and think are among some of the best writing I've ever done. There are , of course, other bits that are awful and make me cringe, but the bad bits are less bad and the good bits are better.
Short stories - again, I quite like most of them. I can't finish a story if I hate it. Hoff is probably my favourite short story character, followed by Rina ("Ship Breaker's Daughter"), but the story I'm most proud of is "Snow Boots", which made people cry and made it into a charity anthology, "Stories of the Poppies", which raised money for victims of conflict worldwide.
2. Favourite characters? I love Rhodri, but I think that's because I'm IN love with Rhodri *winks* You have to love your heroes! And Bale, who was meant to make a brief appearance in one book, but I liked him so much he's gone on to feature in all four of my novels and marry the most beautiful woman. Valery is wicked, but that makes him great fun to write, because I'm never sure what he'll do next, and it's generally outrageous!
3. I'd like to live on an island off the southern coast of Spain, that could only be accessed by boat at low tide. I'd eat breakfast on the balcony overlooking the sea, and the mail would arrive once a week with a handsome Spanish fisherman called Geraldo who brings me my supplies and worries about me.
4. Wish one - I'd like a juicy publishing contract, with books in shops and modest royalties. I don't want millions, but I'd like to be able to find my books on the shelves in Waterstones.
Wish Two - a house with a little bit of garden so I could have a dog.
Wish Three - I wish for my BF to be cured of his OCD and able to life a normal life (actually that's probably wish one!)
5. High School. I regret not having the confidence to just be myself, and the time and energy I wasted trying to fit in, when I could have just been chilling out and having fun. Which is what I'm doing now!
Right, back to work, and to the Post Office. I won a bunch of Iron Man toys in a competition, and have just sold the last of them on Ebay and bagged a grand total of £45! *does happy dance* That'll pay Geraldo when he comes to deliver the groceries... ;)
