I want to learn Korean. I'm tired of only knowing curse words, disciplinary words, and commands(since I hear them directed at me most of the time). Sure, I can call people stupid and tell them to clean up the ___(insert room/object here) or to hurry up and eat, but I can't ask them where the bathroom is(very essential) located. Its hard to learn a language out of just books, you need atleast 1 native speaker to talk to take it from me. Other then that you can always do without the absolutely annoying classmates.

I agree. I've been trying to learn Croatian out of a book, and while my reading comprehension is...eh possibly decent for the amount of time I've been studying, my listening comprehension is absolutely nil. When I was in Croatia, I couldn't understand anything people said to me in the language.

If you can get tapes, though, that might help. They usually talk slower than normal, and leave out the grammar, but you can at least hear the accent on some better known phrases.

Yeah tapes would be good. I suppose it'd be easier anyway since my mother is a native speaker, hah.
