I'd rather be in Tokyo, I'd rather listen to Thin Lizzy-oh

As I was walking from UPC to the Mongolian place on the Ave with Juli an imposing, apparently-drunken black man walked directly into my path, threw up his hands, and yelled "RAINBOW SNOT!" So I socked him in the crotch and threw him in an alley. Okay, all true but the last sentance.

I finally got my Oxford application off. Now it's the old "out of my hands, into God's," I suppose. If I don't make it in (after all I did turn it in fairly late) I think I'm just going to apply for the JET program (Japanese Exchange and Teaching). It's a pretty good program. You get paid to teach English in Japan for a year ($2500 per month salary), they help with housing costs, insurance, and you get ten days of paid vacation. Not bad. But hopefully the Oxford deal will work out and I can go see Radiohead on their home turf. Really, it's not my sole reason for going.

Now for another B&S lyric: "If I could do just one near perfect thing I'd be happy. They'd write it on my grave, or when they scatter my ashes. On second thought I'd rather hang around and be there with my best friend if she wants me."

That's how I'm feeling. Just one near perfect thing.

So my friend Steve and I are putting together a show, playing at the coffee place here on campus. We'll play about six songs or so. I've been recording quite a bit lately--it's going better than usual. I think we'll go for a pretty minimal set-up. Drums and brushes, some drum machine, guitar, harmonies, etc. Any ideas for a good cover? We'll definately do 'Candy Says,' a Velvet Underground song. Anyhow.

Off to the old office.

"I've got to change my ways
Dress for business every day
A smart suit and a kipper tie
A big arrow pointing to my fly"
