Title: Blow Them Away
Fandom: Tekken [Scenario Campaign, how I love thee~]
Characters: Alisa Bosconovitch, Hikari Yoshima, Devil Jin [Lars Alexandersson and Tougou in a flashback sequence], mentions of Odyssius Sindel and Kaiya Sato.
Summary: Maybe they should’ve trusted their first instinct.
Rating: PG-13 for cussing, blood, the usual. :|

Notes: I don’t own Lars, Tougou, Alisa, or Devil Jin, just Hikari. Odyssius is owned by Quin, and Nero [souslalune ] owns Kaiya. And I totally blame playing Scenario Campaign on this. But! It’s also a good way to delve into the inner workings of Hikari’s powers, since it’s not really covered. 8D; EXPOSITION FTW. Also, Hikari and Devil Jin’s new fight song is “Superbeast” by Rob Zombie. It’s trufax. ...also.

SIX PAGES.
3,120 WORDS.
FUCK.
YEAH.

They had gotten on the train easily enough, but something about it was bothering Hikari greatly. Something was making her feel…unsettled, and worried. She could feel her stomach clench, but it wasn’t from anticipation, no, it was something different. She frowned, trying to think of what the hell it was that she was feeling, and her mind drifted back to when she volunteered for this particular mission.

Several hours earlier

“It’s a supply train. If we can reach them at the right time, we can effectively cut the Zaibatsu off for a good amount of time,” Tougou explained, showing them the trail on the map where the rail line crossed.

“Sounds simple enough.”

“… Almost too much so, don’cha think?” Hikari asked, a hand at her hip as she adjusted the shoulder covering on her armor. She frowned as she checked the markings on the map, eyes narrowing slightly. “I dunno. It seems weird. Wouldn’t they have a jackload of security trying to keep people like us outta there?”

“More than likely, but they’re expecting an entire army- not just one or two of us,” Lars pointed out, checking the map again himself. “I’ll take Alisa and-”

“No way. I’ll go with Alisa. Besides, Kaiya and the others have been worried sick about you since you guys went to Russia.” The brunette shook her head, smirking slightly. “Infiltration might be more of Odyssius’s thing, but I still know what the hell I’m doing when it comes to the basics.”

The two men looked at each other, raising an eyebrow at her statements. Though it was true- Lars hadn’t really been around his forces for very long after returning from Heihachi’s compound a few days earlier. And it wasn’t the fact that they didn’t trust Hikari- she had proven on several occasions that she was a formidable fighter and a valuable asset to the rebellion. Lars looked to the back of the room, where Alisa was waiting patiently outside the door. “You sure you two can handle this?”

“Lars, we’ll be fine. I know you’re worried about Alisa, but I promise to do everything I can to make sure nothing happens to her while we’re doing this, alright? You’ve got my number, and I’ll have the headset in. As long as it doesn’t get too heavy, I’ll answer.” She gave him her best reassuring smile as she tapped a small area on the map with one finger. “This looks like the point they’ll be expecting us the most, so we’ll head north of that point- should still be accessible without completely giving away our position.” She looked back up at Lars and Tougou, her expression serious again. “How about it?”

Tougou let out a sigh, hiding an amused half-smile from Lars once he looked over the position that Hikari had pointed out. “I think we can pull it off. Just don’t do anything too flashy and you two should be set.”

“Tch! Please, subtlety is my middle name-”

“But Miss Hikari, it’s impossible for you to have a middle name, being Japanese.”

The sudden statement from Alisa caused the trio to erupt in laughter, earning another confused look from the young android girl. “I-it’s a joke, Alisa. I know that,” Hikari replied between giggles, hiding a grin behind her hand.

--------

She was as impressed as the others that her idea had actually worked, let alone to the capacity that it had so far. But even with the success that she and Alisa had in boarding, things were definitely too quiet. …can’t be a trap, could it?

“Miss Hikari, we have some unidentified anomalies heading our way.” Alisa’s calm voice cut through her thought process like a knife, causing her to blink. But that wasn’t all, either- the feeling she had when they boarded- it had multiplied. Hikari swallowed, turning her head to nod slightly. But what Alisa said next to her made her stall in getting into her fighter’s stance. “Miss Hikari…are you feeling alright? Your irises have changed color dramatically.”

The brunette shook her head. Never felt like this before- goddamn, what is going on with me? “…they have? Must be a trick of the lighting,” she said softly, a hand at her face. That was right; this was the first time that Alisa had been on a mission with her. She was pretty sure that in whatever records the Zaibatsu had, there was no way that they knew about her abilities, otherwise all the work she had pulled into bullshitting her way out of explaining it to other people and hiding said abilities would just be for nothing. “Anyway, we’ve got bigger things to worry about. You mentioned anomalies. You’ve got no idea of what they might be?”

She shook her head. “I’m sorry, but no, I don’t. I can’t find anything in any of the databases. The only thing that I can confirm is the fact that they’re closing in on our position.” Despite the fact that Hikari had dismissed the fact that she wasn’t feeling normal, something about her was bothering Alisa’s sensors. Specifically, her infrared. There was no way that any human could stand having a body temperature that high- and it was still rising.

Hikari snorted, cracking her knuckles. “Sounds like fun.” But what had shown up when they started moving forward made her hand reach straight to her face, covering one of her eyes. She hadn’t really thought that they actually existed, they were just in stories; even in stories about how her family had received their powers. There was a buzzing in her head, and the heat that normally accompanied her pyrokinesis activating had swelled to almost unbearable temperatures. But despite the rising heat, she gave a half-hearted grin. “…maybe my earlier statement about Kazama makin’ a deal with the Devil isn’t so far-fetched,” she mumbled, clenching a fist.

“Entering combat mode, Miss Hikari, I’m ready whenever you are.”

She nodded. “Right. Let’s get ‘em.” Demons. Maybe Ma’s old stories about our clan being demonslayers wasn’t so far-fetched after all. It seems…right facing these guys. Wonder how punching ‘em will feel. The two rushed forward, Hikari ducking underneath a clawed swipe while Alisa activated her boosters, colliding with one of them.

Hikari allowed the heat to envelop her fists, delivering a hard rising uppercut- the feeling was surprisingly good. There was a dull ache from her fist, but she expected that these things would more than likely have hardened skin- maybe that’s why she allowed her fists to catch fire. But other than that, this felt- right. A grin crept on her lips, adrenaline coursing through her system as she delivered blow upon blow to her opponents, picking up a metal rod that had fallen during the scuffle and twirling it a couple times. “Alisa, how’re you holding up?”

“I am relatively unharmed, but it seems that our opponents are not letting up. Do you have any ideas of what we can do?” Alisa asked, colliding with another demon before using her booster in order to add momentum to her spin kick.

She shook her head, the buzzing in her head already beginning to subside. “Nope, just keep at it; I get the feelin’ we’re at least makin’ an impression!” She couldn’t explain it, really, she just…knew. She swung the pole like a sword, holding it in a two-handed grip before charging forward, shifting the flames to not only her fists, but also the rod. What demons weren’t already knocked off the train by the earlier attacks and swings suddenly turned, instinctively cowering at the flames before a small group was impaled on the pole. Hikari growled slightly, letting the rod go, not even wincing at the screeches coming from the demons as they caught on fire.

“Miss Hikari!”

She blinked, staring half in awe, half in horror at what she had just done. Sure they weren’t human, but still, she hadn’t even tried anything that brutal on anyone, even as a soldier. “Did I just-”

Alisa nodded. “I can confirm it if you want me to-”

“NO!”

The sharpness of her tone startled Alisa; she hadn’t thought that the brunette would’ve reacted as such.

She shook her head. “Sorry. I just…never mind, let’s go.” The rush she had gotten during the fight was amazing enough, hell, it was probably the best she had felt in a long time, but- what was that? She knew that she herself had done the deed, but it didn’t seem right, it almost felt as if another person altogether that done it.

The trip was fairly silent for the most part after that, neither one talking outside of battle cries and grunts as they plowed their way through the train.

But as the fights progressed, the buzzing in Hikari’s head seemed to subside, until they had gotten a few more cars ahead, when it completely disappeared. “I…think that’s it.”

“Affirmative. I can’t sense any other anomalies either. If you don’t mind me asking, Miss Hikari...your file never said anything about the abilities you have shown today. Did something happen?”

Hikari shook her head, one hand clenched around her dog-tags before she let it drop to the side. “No. I just never made it a point to show off these abilities. I’m a pyrokinetic, Alisa.”

“One who can control fire with their mind. But…that doesn’t explain what happened earlier-”

“…I’ve never faced demons before, it might be a reaction from my powers. I’m sure that there’s stories out there about people with special abilities that fight demons…” she trailed off, rubbing the back of her head.

“Do you think that you’re descended from one of those demon slayers?”

“…dunno. Maybe? Might explain what the hell happened. It was just…strange. It even felt…right when I was fightin’ those things. Like I was doing what I was born t’do.” She let out a sigh, shrugging. “Either way, we gotta get set up. Where are we headed-” But before she could finish her sentence, the buzzing sensation that had been plaguing her head earlier had come back with a vengeance, causing her to grit her teeth. However, in doing so, she accidently bit her cheek, and she could taste the blood as she cursed softly, her hand at her face.

“Ah! Miss Hikari-” Alisa was cut off as her sensors picked up something- and that something was big. “Alert! There’s an unidentified object that’s approaching us from above!”

“Wha-shit!” She didn’t even think about it, Hikari just reacted, tackling the android out of the way before she looked back, the buzzing continuously occurring in her mind. Whatever it was that was landing, she wanted to beat its skull in until it caved, just so this buzzing would quit driving her nuts. “You alright?”

“I do believe so. Miss Hikari, how come you sensed it before I did?” It was strange, there wasn’t any sort of malfunction going on with her sensors that she knew of at this point-

“I don’t think now’s the time to ask, Alisa. Look.” Hikari pointed as she helped her up, her free hand snaking toward the gun at her thigh, but she stopped. It didn’t seem right to shoot it- no. More like she couldn’t shoot it even if she tried. Hikari prided herself on being a decent shot despite her close-range specialization, but she just had the distinct feeling that if she tried firing, it wouldn’t work.

The figure that had the two women so worried before straightened, black wings folding in on themselves before it turned.

“...motherfucker.” Hikari grimaced. Horns, tattoos on the face and body, fangs, wings- yeah, definitely not your average human. What was worse was the fact that…thing looked exactly like Kazama minus those features. “Alisa, stay behind me.”

“Interesting. I never thought I’d ever meet someone with the blood of fire coursing through their veins. It’s almost refreshing, really.” He spoke with Kazama’s voice, but it still carried a different quality to it, one that made shivers run down Hikari’s spine.

“What can I say…there’s not much about me that’s ordinary,” she snapped, eyes narrowing. This was definitely not going to end well unless they did something- quick.

“Hm, I suppose not. Especially considering how quickly you accepted getting your country involved in this war-”

“Shut up. You and I both know that if I didn’t say something that things would’ve escalated.”

Alisa frowned slightly, watching Hikari as she was arguing with the…demon that had appeared. She really couldn’t find any better way of putting it from what she could find in her databases. But she could feel that heat beginning to rise from her again- she had already speculated that when Hikari’s core body temperature rose, it meant that she was preparing to- or already in the process of- activating her pyrokinesis. So…was she getting ready to attack?

“Perhaps, though you have caused enough chaos by accepting like you have. I haven’t seen things this hectic…in a very long time.”

“Hectic? That’s putting it lightly, don’cha think?” Hikari asked, her hand on her pistol- despite her better instinct telling her not to do it.

But right before she was about to fire, even before she could get the pistol out of the holster completely, she was slammed into the ground, the gun skittering out of her hands and landing near the edge of the car. “Shit- Alisa!” She was cut off from further words as he dug his claws into her shoulders, digging through the material of the armor- she was sure that wasn’t possible- how in the hell-

“Right!” And with that, Alisa had activated her Destroy Form, allowing chainsaws to appear from her wrists to slash at Devil Jin.

With a howl, the demon extracted its claws from Hikari’s shoulders, backing off before it took more damage. “…annoying.”

Hikari grimaced, blinking as Alisa held out a hand, the saws now gone. “Are you okay?”

“Been better, but I’ve fought with worse,” she replied, rolling one shoulder, then the other. Luckily the armor on her left side hadn’t been damaged as bad as she originally thought- she’d have to thank Kaiya and Tougou later. The heat and buzzing returned, and this time, she allowed the flames to engulf her entire body momentarily, eyes glowing a furious gold. “But I think I got this covered. But…just in case, cover me, alright? I don’t want any interference while we’re fighting.”

“Are you sure-”

“Positive. Besides, I think it’ll be kinda nice to have a one-on-one fight…been a while since I’ve had one.” Blood was running down the armor, but at this point, she didn’t care. She just wanted to fight.

Devil Jin let out a laugh. “This is definitely a most interesting turn of events…come, then. Show me your anger!” He beckoned for the brunette to come forward, wings spread wide and a toothy grin across his features.

“Gladly!” Hikari then dashed forward, body still on fire as she and the demon collided, trading blows at near-impossible speeds. She growled, swerving to avoid a particularly nasty punch, only to retaliate with a side kick.

His grin only widened as they shifted, moving their almost consistent trading of blows closer and closer to the edge of the car. But he wasn’t just going to let her get thrown off, oh no. That’d be too simple. He wanted to make sure she suffered before she was thrown off. He took the kick- she had some bite to her, that was for sure- and charged one of his hands with red lightning, driving it into her shoulder again.

Unfortunately, Hikari had wised up to this move, and pushed his arm up before driving her own fist into his torso, allowing it to catch on fire and send the demon to the other side of the car. She was just following instinct, following what her body and her mind knew was going to work in these cases- it had saved her life before, and dammit, it was going to help now.

Devil Jin let out a grunt as he hit the floor of the car, his hand resting against something- the rod that Hikari had used to torch the demons earlier. He grinned, picking it up as she ran right at him, sliding on the floor as she lowered herself, swinging her leg in a sweeping motion to trip him up. “No you don’t!”

He was starting to go down, but that didn’t matter, he still had the opportunity, and he was going to take it as soon as he could. He was still grinning as he went down, thrusting the rod into her left shoulder. The scream that came from her was like music to his ears, it had been a long time since he had heard someone in that much pain, suffering by his hands.

She screamed, her eyes flickering over to where Alisa was fighting off the demons that had decided to join in their little party. …shit, shit, shit…this is not good. I promised Lars that I wouldn’t let anything happen… Her screaming dwindled until it was merely a whimper, shutting her eyes as she tried pulling the rod out of her shoulder-

“I can’t have you do that.”

Her eyes snapped open, fuck, she was seeing red as she snarled at the demon, and she just allowed her instinct to take over, flames in her uninjured hand as she grabbed Devil Jin by the shoulder. “Fuck…off.”

A concussive blast of heat and flame erupted from the point where Hikari touched him, sending the both of them flying, though Hikari felt something collide with her as she was about to fly off the car- “A-Alisa…?”

“You’re injured…” The android picked her up with ease, helping Hikari to her feet. The buzzing had completely subsided as well…wait, did that mean- “The demons seem to have disappeared. But that’s not important right now, Miss Hikari- we need to get that rod out of your arm and get you medical attention immediately!”

“…yeah. I know.” She looked into the distance, her expression calm despite the recent events. ...this is only the beginning, isn't it. She tapped the communicator in her ear. “Lars, we need extraction as soon as possible. It...mission was a failure. Sorry.”
