CHARACTER

✧ NAME: Prince Dastan of Persia
✧ SERIES: Prince of Persia Movieverse
✧ HISTORY: There are spoilers in the link:

✧ TIMELINE: Right as he turns back time in the SandGlass Caves

✧ PERSONALITY:

Dastan's most remarkable personality traits are his courage and nobility. He is not afraid to speak out his mind, like he did in the market against the King's soldiers, or in the war council, before the attack on Alamut. When his brother took the decision to attack the sacred city, Dastan offered to lead the attack, knowing that he could lead one that would spare many lives. And even though he was refused by his foster brother, he still went against his older brother and he went on to find a way to get into the city and open a gate without having to kill too many people, consciously defying his family, but for a good cause.

Dastan always tries to do the right thing, even if it means that he has to sacrifice himself. He literally killed himself to make his brother understand the power of the Dagger of Time, so that he would be cleared of all charges against him. Despite that, Dastan can be a bit selfish when it comes to sacrificing others, especially those he loves, as shown when Tamina explained that hiding the Dagger back in the rock where it came from would mean her death as well. Dastan simply told her that he was ready for that option yet.

The Prince of Persia's desire for good deeds makes him a little bit naïve. He was easily fooled and lied to by Tamina and it took him a bit of time to find who the real traitor was in his family, even if he had put all the puzzle's pieces together. He also refused to use the Dagger of Time for his own benefit once he understood that it was the real reason behind the attack on Alamut and that in the wrong hands, it would be a very powerful weapon. Instead of using it to bring back his family, he helped Tamina to hide it, even if it meant losing the chance to turn back time to before everything happened.

Family is very very important to Dastan. He places the opinion of his foster brothers and of his father above anyone else's. He was very distraught by the death of his father and even more so when he was accused of killing him. Each time he encountered his brothers during his journey, he always claimed that he was innocent, always reminding them how their father always taught them that their bond was the sword defending the Empire. Seeing both of his brothers die at the hand of the enemy only fueled Dastan's need to make things right once and for all.

Despite the fact that Dastan seems to get along with his brothers very well, the Prince of Persia doesn't always feel like he belongs in the throne room, probably because of his true origins. Instead, he prefers to spend time with his soldiers, other street rats that were recruited by him, and especially with Bis. Though he respects the traditions of his people, he doesn't seem to give some importance to them, forgetting to get a gift to his father when the King finally joins them after the victory over Alamut.

There are not a lot of things that Dastan fears. He can withstand extreme heights, heat and impending doom without blinking, always finding a way to get out of trouble (usually by doing some impossible stunts). But even as fearless as he is, Dastan gets all flustered and usually loses his wits around beautiful and strong women. His father teased him about it, saying that this might be the reason why he doesn’t have at least one wife, unlike his brothers.

Lastly, Dastan can be pretty witty, has a good sense of humor and isn't afraid to make people laugh, even if it means getting ridiculed. He can be charming and has a generally good personality.

✧ ABILITIES/POWERS:

Dastan is able to jump greater lengths and heights than most humans and can do parkour better than most people as well. He is extremely agile and can rarely be stopped when he tries to run away or climb a wall, due to his quick improvising skills. He is also fit and can fight with two scimitars at the same time, as well as throw daggers with some accuracy and he is proficient in hand-to-hand combat.

Dastan knows how to read and write Persian language, has basics math skills and he knows how to read maps and plan for strategic battles. He also knows how to survive in the desert, meaning that he does have basic cooking, hunting and fishing skills. Being often in the battlefield, Dastan also has very basic medical skills (cleaning and wrapping wounds).

✧ TIME OF ARRIVAL: Day

✧ MASK DESIGN: This one

✧ PLACE OF SOLACE: The desert? XD IDK Some nice oasis would be all right for him.

SAMPLES

✧ FIRST PERSON:

Dear brother,

I sincerely hope that you will visit the Holy City soon, for you have to tell me how you bear any of these official duties in Nasaf. I usually leave most of them to Tamina, for she can handle them better than me, but some seem to fall under my responsibility as Regent Prince. While I do understand the Alamutians' difficulties in trusting me, I do not see how they need to be suspicious of my judgment regarding the repairs and strengthening of the outer Walls. Who else would know better the weaknesses of their defenses than the one that breached them? And the High Council's unwillingness to let me train the Alamutian soldiers is also a source of frustration that keeps me awake at night. I believe they fear I will use them as my own for war campaign even though I assured them that the Persian armies are by far the strongest ones to use to defend the Empire as well as expanding it. I only truly wish for my new people to be kept safe for years to come, as they were before we wrongfully listened to Nizam's treacherous' words. But I find that it is not as simple as I thought it would be. In that regard, I believe that you are truly better suited for the Crown that I am, Tus. You have a better way with words than both Garsiv and I have, combined.

I have discussed the matter you have asked of me with Tamina and while she did not seem very happy with the prospect of me riding out to war on Koshkan with you and Garsiv, I will meet you as we planned. I prefer to see the Warlord subdued, especially with rumors of his eyes turned on Alamut. I have not told...my wife about this and so I will appreciate if you keep it to yourself as well. I do not want to worry her furthermore.

The Princess and I will be awaiting for your arrival in our city with great anticipation. I hope the Gods will smile upon your journey back to us.

Your brother,
Dastan

P.S. Please tell Garsiv that Aksh has already sire two foals and that he is well and happy. The green hills of Alamut suit him better than the arid plains of Nasaf.

P.P.S. Oh, and you may want to let our dear brother know that my aim has improved tremendously since the last we saw each other. And that pomegranate season is upon us in the Holy City.

✧ THIRD PERSON:

He can't stop the scream of pain when the blade of the dagger pierces the skin of his abdomen. He should have known that Nizam wasn't below delivering a low blow. The pain is enough to make Dastan stagger back lightly and his uncle takes this opportunity to send him over the precipice. The Prince barely has time to cling to the rock of the Sandglass, the wound at his side stretching painfully.

"Enjoy the gutter Dastan. For it's where you'll stay during my reign!"

As he struggles to climb back on the platform, he yells the Princess' name, hoping she would be able to talk some sense into his uncle. But instead, Dastan watches in horror as his uncle looks at her with disdain before throwing her into the nothingness below him. Sacrificing his climbing, Dastan catches her with one hand, the extra weight on his injured side sending blinding sparks of pain in his body. For a moment, all he can do is groan as he tries to breathe more slowly, willing the pain to dull away.Dastan looks down at Tamina, trying to pull her up to safety, but his muscles don't seem to want to obey him anymore. She's breathing heavily, dangling dangerously as she tries to stabilize herself. She then looks up at him and Dastan feels his heart sink at her gaze. He knows that gaze. She wore the same one at the Temple when she had wanted to hide the Dagger back in the stone.

"Stop him! If the glass shatters, the world dies with it! It's not my destiny, it's yours, it always has been..."

Unwilling to listen to her, the Prince still struggles to pull her to safety, to show her that he can still make his own destiny, that he can still save everyone. But his muscles are numbed from the pain and panic starts to seep into his heart. He doesn’t want the Princess to be right, not this time.

"Let me go."

"I won't."

"Let...me...go"

He can see the tears rolling down her cheeks now. The pain in her eyes, the fear written on her face, it only helps Dastan to find his resolve and his words come out more forcefully:
"I'm not letting you go!"

Her face softens for a moment, honesty pooling into her brown eyes:
"I wish we could have been together..."

And so saying, Tamina opens her hand, letting go of his wrist. Panic now grips his heart fully as he feels her slip slightly:
"No...no..."

His grip on her is strong, but the numbness in his arm is starting to spread to his hand and she slips furthermore. He can see the fear in her eyes; he can see her resolve not to be overcome by her survival instincts and grab his hand again, he knows she is ready to sacrifice herself to save their world. She slips completely from his grip in a matter of seconds and she falls to her doom, screaming his name. And all he can do is scream as well:
"TAMINA!!!!"
