Huzzah! Cox has just left, and I now have cable, internet, and a phone. And a DVR, because I sleep during all the good programming.
The only downside to this is that the upstairs is wired differently than the downstairs. See, the cable comes into the junction box, then into a conduit that goes straight down into the ground. No idea where inside the house the cable comes up; there are two outlets on the ground floor, and they work with the cable no problem. The two upstairs outlets (the original ones, anyways) are wired through the attic space, and that comes into the house through a conduit at the middle of the house and out of the top of the center dividing wall. There's a satellite dish on the chimney, but neither I nor the Cox guy could figure out how the hell that was run into the house to that wall. The upstairs had to have the outlet put in by running around the house and through a hole in the exterior wall. It's not pretty, but it works for now. Until I can figure out how to rewire the entire house in a logical manner that doesn't involve ripping out the drywall.
But I am back online!! Whee.
That's how I'm doing at present. FWB is kind of odd, but I'm adjusting. And some of the people I work with play WoW.... hmmmmmmm....
