I went grocery shopping with my mom. We bought stuff but the best was Neapolitan ice cream. Which I call Napoleon ice cream. It cracks her up.
My brother and I watched the entire first season of Hetalia today. My DVDs came in the mail and 2.5 hours later we had seen all of the first season. We watched the dubbed version. It's pretty funny! I like it. There are differences but I honestly can't tell you what they are. I'd have to watch the sub then and I've had enough anime watching for...a while ahahaha. (This is the only show I watch wtf am I talking about?)
My brother's reactions were pretty great. I had to explain some of what the stereotypes were.
Jerry: Which one's Britain?
Jess: The one with the busy eyebrows.
Jerry: so that's his stereotype?
Jess: Yeah that and he likes tea or something.
*later*
Jerry:...so he's insane?!
Jess: no no only he can see his magical friends.
Jerry: That makes him look insane!
Jess: Yeah, yeah it does.
*even later*
Jerry: So he's also part Harry Potter?
Jess: I guess so hahahahaha!
Man, the Hetalia logo looked so shiny on our TV. I was like "*A* Beautiful..."
If there was one thing I could change about season 1, it would be the constant dramatic build up to the America's Storage Room Cleaning episode. Seriously. I NEVER liked that they were like COME WATCH OUR OVER DRAMATIC REALLY BAD REINTERPRETATION OF THE AMERICAN REVOLUTIONARY WAR! I know the show is a parody and supposed to be funny but like...that part of the episode falls flat. Like the part with the soldiers was cute, and the suit, it flowed well but then it's kind of like "And America randomly wanted to be independent and made Britain cry like a pansy and they were in the rain. Or something."
The best part was of course the one episode where the Axis Powers are making smores on the island they're stranded on. I yell at the TV "THAT'S NOT HOW YOU MAKE THEM! YOU NEED CHOCOLATE!" And maybe a few seconds later, America's there with his binoculars, spying on them, and screaming THE EXACT SAME THING. Not word for word but it is proof that the AMERICAN way of eating smores involves chocolate.
It still amuses me that some of my reactions are just like America's. It just makes the sterotype truer ha!
