I love my students

I have screwed my own sleep schedule up. SO MUCH FOR EARLY BED TIMES. I WAS DOING SO WELL TOO. (Just two days but still!)

This week is never ending! And people seem to be getting sick left and right - my own...allergies? have subsided for now. Or the worst of the cold is over.

I had...two classes today. Both third years.

With Matsui, we did a practice English exam THAT THE KIDS TAKE TO GET INTO HIGH SCHOOL. JESUS CHRIST. She also made me lecture them on their mistakes in their homework. I hate it when she makes me be the bad guy but I did it in a constructive way I hope? I encouraged them to do it slowly, like 1 or 2 pages a day. Seriously, some of these kids have terrible penmanship and I know they know their English, but their u and n and r all LOOK THE FUCKING SAME. And their a and o too. In type they look different, but writing by hand is so different.

I also had class with Sakata who was like "okay so you can do this practice test, or do these worksheets Jessica has had up on the English board for like ever, or practice conversation with Jessica!" This was the class with at least three boys who make it a point to shout at me JESSICA IS THE MOST BEAUTIFUL ALL OVER THE WORLD every time they see me because they get to listen to be laugh my ass off. ALL OVER THE WORLD. I apparently cover the EARTH with my beauty. Fear me! So I spent most of the class talking to the students who wanted to talk to me. We talked about all kinds of things, they got Canada stickers, and it was a fun way to pass the class over all. The loud boys showed me how they play "Battle Tops" which looks hard but fun, we discussed One Piece ("Nami is big boy!" = "Nami has huge tits." yes, yes she does.), and one girl says she wants to go to America to eat hamburgers.

...yes, my mind went "GIVE ME MORE HAMBURGER!" Thank you, Hetalia. I will never view hamburgers in a serious fashion EVER AGAIN.

BUT MOST IMPORTANTLY OF ALL, MY ENGLISH BOARD FINALLY HAS WORKSHEETS STUCK TO IT. (I still can't find winter olympic worksheets...I might resort to Canada worksheets.)

AND. These same boys who declare me beautiful daily, also can do a hilarious impersonation of X Japan. All it takes his singing in falsetto to the tune of "Kurenai" and some dramatic flailing and people know you're X Japan. XD; I love my kids. Impersonating X, just for me!

I talked to some of the third year students outside of school too. One of them, Kousei, made a great joke. I asked him where he lived, and he said Indonesia. I laughed and he was like AMERICAN JOKE!! HOLLYWOOD, IT PAYS OFF. THE JAPANESE ARE CATCHING ONTO OUR SENSE OF HUMOR. IF 14 YEAR OLD BOYS CAN BE WITTY IN AN AMERICAN SENSE, THEN...THEN...THEN SO CAN OTHER JAPANESE PEOPLE. No, it was seriously hilarious. He's a riot. I love this kid. He apparently is spoiled though because while his friends biked all the way to the entrance exams, he got to ride in a CAR. He is a sweetie though. I'd spoil him too. And he KNOWS it. Dammit.

Then I ran into ANOTHER third year on the bridge home. He's really tall, but has a sweet face, and he was so nervous. XD; I'm like dude, you see me at school all the time! All I am doing is going hey, how are you? where are you going? where do you live? how far is it from here? Maybe he was cold. It is windy up on that bridge.

So. I think...whenever my mood may be dropping, I just need to go out into the hallways and say hi to my students. Because they light me up and I light them up and it's this complete circuit of good feelings.

This made me laugh so bad. I think it's because of how this girl interpretates the personifications of nations. But really it was the bratty dialog America had. I died with laughter. "PRESENT!!!" Ahahahha and then the intense look of "YOUARESUPPOSEDTOBEONMYHEAD.CANADAISMYHAT.GETONMYHEAD.NOW.NOOOOOOOOW."

One day, I will go to Pakistan and visit all the really cool looking places there is to see there with my friend Neiha. The more she talks about that part of the world, the more I want to go. I guess I got a bit of my grandparents in me - travel and see the world. I really want to. I want to see it all!

But of course, I want to see what's at home too. America is the beautiful, and I want to see it all!

ALSO. DOES ANYONE KNOW WHY DUCKS MIGHT ALL SIT ON A LARGE BODY OF WATER, TOGETHER, AT A GIVEN TIME? All week, I have seen this huge flock of ducks lined up in the water, just...floating there. Always around 4 PM. And it's starting to bother me because they never do anything. We have hawks but the hawks never go after them. Are they sleeping?

Speaking of sleep...

Edit: I also helped Otaki today plan his own class for elementary school. After not having taught elementary in almost a year, I still have the touch it seems. Apparently the school he goes to is really small and their ALT is too serious. That really sucks because in a school made up of like 120 kids, you can really get to know them all really well, and well...our job is to be the kids' friend. We're the COOL teacher. Not the boring one.
