Do Goldfish yawn?

Because I think mine do. I cleaned their tank today - changed the water, wiped down the walls, changed their filter, and rearranged their decor. They seem happy which is good.

*snickers* Sorry, I'm listening to "Earth in the Dark" and I can't take Toshi seriously when he's singing "EARRRRTTTTHHHHHH IN THE DAAAARRRKKKKK." Okay, I can't take him seriously 95% of the time.

Classes:

4th grade: The good class was good and awesome and I love them. I also ate lunch with them. The other class, was the bad class, so it went as well as a class full of kids who don't care, and don't play by the rules can go.

1st grade: I swear, first grade is sometimes my reason for living. There is something...really nice about having a class full of little kids excited because YOU are there. It doesn't matter that we're doing stuff in English, it's more like OMG JESSICA OMG OMG OMG OMG AAAAAAAAAAAAAAH! *over excitement* But, having done boring weather lesson once, I figured out how to spice it up. Funnier chants (vary the speed - they love it) and actually saying which news channel the kid is pretending to be from. "NHK" got the most laughs as I said it really funny. We ended early though.

3rd grade: this grade also makes me love my job because they love me as much as first grade does. I had kids telling me it felt like forever since I had seen them and at Dai Yon, grades 2 and 3 are often cut from my schedule if classes have to be cut. =( Again, chants of various speeds = great idea. I also gave out signatures and drew little animals on their request. They're amazed I can do this all very quickly but hey I wanted to be artist first, Japanese linguist...second? But the class went well!

I spent the rest of the day preparing for next week's classes. All but special ed and one 2nd grade class have been planned. Tomorrow is our big "people coming to watch us teach aaaaaaaaah" classes. If they've made any last minute changes, I will not know until it is too late. So if things don't go as planned, they better not blame me.

Got more free milk.

VP thinks I challenge the kids so they're getting better and better. I hope so. It means I'm good at what I do.

One boy is still trying to convince me he is Chinese or Korean but speaking Japanese funnily and saying ni hao does not make one Chinese. I am onto you, kid!

3 third graders broke into the school after hours yesterday. Because they wanted to play in their classroom. This landed them in the principal's office. How they got in, I have no idea. But everyone was pretty much scandalized. I just think it means they're really smart...and need a public playground.

I think a pair of middle schoolers laughed at me as I sang as I walked home. But then they nearly fell off their bicycle. XD;

A man working his garden with his wife welcomed me home. It felt nice to be welcomed home.

In materialistic news, LEMONed has their cool jackets back up for sale but...they're really too expensive for what is essentially a piece of hide cosplay. Part of me wants it because I love that jacket, but the reasonable part of me also knows it costs too much and if I don't wear it all the time, what's the point of buying it? (I WISH I could wear that to school. Everyone has a wind breaker on, I come in looking like hide! Well okay I'd need the pink hair too. Too bad I can't dye my hair and teach English at the same time.) And if I can fit my bust into it, it'll look funny. Because I am not nearly flat on both sides like Japanese people, which is why tubular clothing that just hangs looks good on them, and weird on me (as in it doesn't hang, it gets caught up hugging CURVES). If only I could try it on...

And that's about it from my end.

good day, kumano, work, toshi, japan, hide, fish
