This is probobly gonna be in the Newspaper in a few weeks
First of all I want to get something off my chest. The Scholastic Aptitude Test, or the SATs totally sucks…a lot. I love how one number pretty much decides your intelligence level. Currently, I’m working up the ability to score above “Supa wicked dumb” or as the SAT sees it, spelling your name right.
Moving on however, this test can have some good. Im not talking about its ability to place you into good colleges, or the pretty bragging rights it can give you if you score in the 1400 range, I’m talking about the storys in the reading section. Some of them are really freakin’ stupid. Some of them are in fact really, really, stupid. Where am I going with this? Well I will tell you, I have found a break in the system. This past Tuesday I took a practice SAT in the Kaplan course. In it was an essay about particle physics. Most of you might not know what particle psychics is, because you may have the brain that could fit in a coach wallet (As do most people who shop at coach. Honestly! 500 bucks for an effing purse? I can make one out of duct tape!).
Particle Physics is the study of micro materials, or something like that. I don’t remember much, I was shopping for coach bags in my mind at the same time when I was reading it. It talked about how its going be the new cool thing, which I highly doubt cause nothing can beat the trend of coach bags( I hate coach bags). They apparently study all the stuff that makes up space, and how much you can split them into. Now into the reason I wrote this essay. I will probably have you deathly afraid of space, or at least bring you on the first ever acid trip given by a magazine, by the end of this article.
I have Space phobia, the extreme fear of space. I didn’t know I had it until I started abstractly thinking about space. Before It was kinda cool cause they sent a Russian monkey up there, pioneering the notion that not only can Russians leave the earth, but that they can also make a monkey communist. I am going to try to explain my fear of space so that everyone can understand it. If I have lost you by now, keep reading, It might actually be cool.
We live on planet earth. A round spherical blue ball, filled with animals, plants, buildings, and those damn coach bags. Earth, as a planet, is in a solar system containing the other 8 planets, and the sun, that’s pretty big right? Now we have these planets in an area known as a galaxy, which is pretty freakin huge. These galaxies probably have a million solar systems just like ours in it. Some of these galaxies chill out together in a group. I don’t know what they would call this but I’m going to call it “The supa wicked big aihhreaahhh with da galaxies”. Then we have the universe, which is where all of this exists.
Physics teaches us that some things cannot go on forever. We have the exceptions with math problems like pi and the rolling stones, which will never ever end. So, if infinty is impossible with something concrete, like length and space, how big is the universe. How big is that big black area in which we all are sitting in. Does it even have a defined end? If so, where is that end, how far, and if that end does exist what is beyond the end? For example, you are sitting in your house, if you go outside your house, you are in your yard. If you go beyond your yard, you are in the street…and it goes on. So what is beyond that universe? A big white room with one lone slushy stand that never ends. If so, what is beyond that room. It never ends for me, that’s why I am scared of space.
One more thing I have a slight fear of is atom splitting. If you split and orange in two, you have two slices. If you keep slicing you get more and more halves. It doesn’t just disappear when you cut it. that’s why I don’t really trust that atoms are the smallest things. If you cut one, you get two atoms, (pushing aside the small problem that you set off a nuclear explosion) not a sudden nothing.
Just a few things to think about while you’re reading this. Have a clear mind, this article is best read at about 2 in the morning when you are really lucid. You could also skip this and just read it when you like, but take a gander at it a few times. If it doesent come to you right away, keep at it. I would love to hear replys of what people think is beyond the universe. Hit up my live journal and write what you think is at the end.
