what better way to celebrate the new year than with good fic?
I should stop posting but I just read a couple good fics and decided to do a little impromptu rec post that's short but sweet.
01. Reasons Why by intothemorning (Gilmore Girls, Gossip Girl)
A Rory/Dan fic written for the most recent challenge at choco_cherries. It's one of those ficlets that captures the whole feeling of a ship overall rather than just a moment in time. And, regardless of your feelings for either character, you almost can't help loving the idea of them together when you walk away.
02. The Believer by oxoniensis (Dirty Sexy Money)
This captures Brian's voice - and his views on Nick and Jesus - perfectly. I don't read a lot of DSM fic but this one popped up on my flist today and I fell in love.
03. Smells Like Teen Spirit (It's Just That Delicate) by do_not_confess (Friday Night Lights)
I'm not normally a fan of first time fic but this is so damn adorable and sweet and just utterly perfect, with a touch of sadness. It pretty much sums up Matt and Julie perfectly.
04. 75 Skills Every Man Should Master by just_3_apples (How I Met Your Mother)
This is possibly my all time favorite Barney and Robin fic. The author took this list from Esquire and wrote a big series of ficlets that all go together. It's written in five parts so it's long and both the format and story work together in a really great way. You'll be sad to see it end.
05. Last Kiss by penny_lane_42 (Gossip Girl, Veronica Mars)
I can't do any sort of rec post without this girl. She always writes amazing entries for choco_cherries that I fall in love with and this is one of my all time favorites. There's such a shortage of really good Weevil fic out there that it breaks my heart, just like this fic - which is so damn in character and has Weevil falling for Blair and comparing her to Lily in a really great way.
I'm in such a fan fiction mood today. Anyone have any good recommendations? You know what I like ;)
