Jesus. Alias is on for two hours tonight? Where have I been? Oh wait. I taped last week and never watched it, or I would know this. Clearly I am on the ball.

Re: Joan--it was time. The first season had humor and strong writing and relatively subtle delivery of the intended life lessons. Season 2 was disturbing and depressing and made me tired to watch as character after character was dragged through the mud and/or disappointed me. It makes me sad for the actors and crew because the show had great potential and it's never fun to see someone lose their job. But I can't be sorry to see the show go as it is now. Eh. What can you do?

Re: Gilmore Girls--I agree with regard to Rory never being taught accountability or that she is not perfect. She has never really known what it meant to be wrong unless it was something circled in red on a school paper, which is why everything feels 10 times bigger than it has to for her and why she's not comfortable with her own very natural decisions.

I gathered that Lorelai feels betrayed on a lot of levels and it's entirely too easy to think of Richard and Emily as the bad guys, but I think this could all work out. If anything, while I have been thinking that they merely wanted to use Rory as a Lorelai stand-in, something tells me that the window between Rory's breakdown with Richard and Lorelai's visit gave them the perspective they need to see that they're in a position to do something good for both their daughter and their granddaughter. This arrangement gives each of them room to move. Rory wasn't going to go to school simply because Lorelai said she had to. This was, by default, Rory's only available option. Additionally, it gives Lorelai 5 minutes to herself.

I think this is the first time Lorelai's parents have done anything to support her as a parent, though she might not see it that way now and they definitely expressed it quite badly. (They're too used to saying, "This is the way it's going to be," and failed to mention the part where Rory came to them first. That might have helped.)

Meanwhile, yay for L/L gaining momentum. I wonder if they're going to get that house back or if they'll create another option. I just know that the moment (last week?) with Kirk being a rich and evil bastard--and coming off as if he has been snowing the town with his quirkiness for years--was creepier than hell. If they give it to him and Lulu, I can only imagine that I'm going to get very annoyed by that.
