I'm worried about Toph. She has not been handling...events...well, and I can't help but feel I'm to blame for her troubles. But she's under the care of the best possible doctors, and Mother is gadding about to keep her busy and safe from too-prying eyes. Oh, but that woman can be MADDENING at times, and just has no sense of what's age-appropriate!...but I know she loves my little Toph as dearly as I do, and will take the best possible care of her.
But speaking of doctors...the obstetrician says all is going well. I can't wait for the day when we can finally all be together as a loving family.
I miss you SO MUCH darling, but you know I'd wait for you forever! Even with all of the obstacles we've had to deal with, you have made me happier than I've ever dreamed could be possible.

Zi, you can't help that she's suffering. You did what was best for her, you can't always keep children completely happy. She'll be fine, a few more weeks with that insane mother of yours and she'll be good as new. She won't be fatherless for long and she still has a fine mother.
I was afraid to ask, but that gives me such joy, you read my mind and knew I wanted to know about our little prince.

And I'm sure you're right about Toph...you're always so sensible about these things. It's just so very hard for me to look at these things from a distance when she is hurting. I just hope that she can learn to love you as a father figure, you're ever so much more deserving of it than Lex was!
As for names, if it is a boy we simply must name him for you, I absolutely insist on it. For a girl, now, that's a little trickier to decide, but I do rather like the idea of Melusina as a middle name, although it's perhaps just a wee bit too...gothic...for a first. But I actually did a rather intensive Victorian studies course back in my college days, and while it's of course dreadfully unfashionable by modern literary standards, I must say I grew rather fond of La Motte's epic poem on the Melusine legend ( ... )
