A Fine Line
Harry loves a lot of things.
He loves being away from the Dursleys, and being free to do what he pleases (for the most part, anyway). He loves that he is away from that horrid second bedroom which contains nothing but a bed, desk, and bureau. He loves that he has three full meals a day and he loves being away from the constant taunting of his so-called family.
He loves Hogwarts; it contains his classes, his ability to use magic, and his friends. He loves that he has a gift that frightens his aunt and uncle, and that he will soon be able to use it whenever he wishes.
Harry loves his friends, Hermione and Ron. He loves his housemates and his companions from the other houses. He loves the Weasleys, and Remus, and the fact that there's someone who constantly fusses over him. Deep down, Harry loves to be fussed over- not for being famous, but for simply being Harry.
He loves Quidditch: the path of his broom through the air, the small golden snitch, and the wind rushing through his hair. He loves that he is good- no one flies like Harry. He loves the look of loathing on Draco Malfoy's face each time his hand grasps the snitch just ahead of the Slytherin's.
But Harry also hates.
He hates Voldemort, and the fact that the Dark Lord controls his life. He hates that he is a target and brings danger to those he loves. He hates that Voldemort has taken his parents, and Sirius. He hates his current inability to do anything about it.
Harry hates Snape, and the fact that Snape hates him because of something that had occurred years before Harry was even born. He hates that his potions are never good enough, that he's never smart enough. And he hates Occulmency.
He hates Draco Malfoy, that sneering, annoying, pale-faced bastard. He hates that Malfoy won't just leave him alone and he hates the fact that the Slytherin always manages to get a rise out of him. He hates that Draco Malfoy has any kind of control over him at all.
Love and hate.
A fine line.
Harry tries his best to try to find things he loves, and he tries to always make sure they outnumber the things he hates.
It appears to be a tight battle. With each day, the fear of Voldemort grows and Harry finds one more thing to hate.
But he is a fighter.
And he loves to win.
