Yeah, I'd never realized that until FFXII. ...I hadn't actually played any of the final fantasy games though, just seen way too many of them played on the gaming TV in the lounge. But I definitely had that moment where they spelled out "a tuft of phoenix down" and suddenly it made sense what that was.

yeah i think they probably realized that a bunch of people had no idea what they were talking about, so they decided to spell it out a little more
