Maybe not but--this always has been a competition between the three of us: Rise, Chie, and me.

Well, it looks to me like you're taking it too personally. Calm down, take a step back, and tell yourself that it's only food. There's nothing wrong with a friendly competition, but don't take it too seriously.

If I'm traveling alone, I have to know how to cook for myself.

Not necessarily. You could buy imperishable food before you set out. And once you're out in the wild, the only method of cooking you have is by campfire.
