As you know, I'm not watching, other than that scene (you know which one) -- just reading your write-ups. (Thanks!). I did want to comment on one thing. I read the article you linked to and I will say one thing. I got a different interpretation of that interview than you did. The whole point of the numbness/non-reaction to Tara's death now is because death happens so much, crazy stuff happens so much and so much is going on right now. The writer specifically said that they actually address it later on in the season about the fact:

"...that story is not finished. Inasmuch as we will address the fact that she wasn’t fully mourned later in the season."Now, I don't think it's a good choice. I think it's a stupid one. And I agree 100% with all of your issues, but they do plan on actually dealing more with Tara's death and the reaction (or rather lack of reaction) to it. Stupid choice, but again, what hasn't been a stupid choice? As you are pointing out so succinctly in these write-ups ( ... )

Hi dear!

Yeah, I saw that in the article. I am glad they are not leaving Tara's death reactions at what we had in episode 1. I was mainly reacting to the fact that they shot this scene with Pam and then dropped it entirely. As well as the fact that they killed Tara at all for no better reason than "oh, well, someone's gotta go..." Anyway, like you said, it's a stupid choice. Sigh.

Jason/Eric scene wasn't all bad. They are two very good actors with some actual chemistry. It was just overshadowed for me by all the other stuff.

Thank you, dear! Hugs you!

Wow, this episode was a mess.

I can't believe the way they're using Tara! This was much worse than I thought it would be. After everything that Lettie Mae did to her, they're using Tara to advance Lettie Mae's storyline?! Or whatever plot device they're pulling...just no words. And I thought I was mad for Tara last episode...she deserves much better than being some allegory.

The way they keep using Eric is upsetting too. I don't why True Blood keeps manipulating us. Sigh.

I am really frustrated at the way Sookie keeps going back to Bill. Why does the narrative have her going back to someone that manipulates her?

Manipulation : True Blood's main objective.

Internally screaming!

I don't think I will ever get over what they did to Tara. If ever a character deserved better treatment and outcome ... Ugh.

I don't why True Blood keeps manipulating us. Sigh.

I think that these new showrunner/writers think that this is the only way to tell a story. Sigh, indeed.

I am really frustrated at the way Sookie keeps going back to Bill. Why does the narrative have her going back to someone that manipulates her?

No idea. And it IS the narrative, because look how they isolated her yet again: Eric is gone, so is Pam, Tara is dead, Willa is a baby and I am not sure Sookie even knows her well ... So who is left of the vampires (and let's face it, vampires are the only ones strong enough to take on the threat)? Bill. And yes, Jessica, but she is part of the Bill parcel anyway.

They write Sookie into these corners so she ends up back with Bill. And it's infuriating.

Internally screaming!Hahaha! I just pictured it! :)) Me, personally? I have been screaming outright. It's just so, so frustrating ( ... )

I agree w/ everything you write, as usual. But this time it's heartbreaking. This show is barely a shell of what it used to be. The wit, the heart, the intelligence--it's gone ( ... )

Thank you so much! HUGS! :)

The wit, the heart, the intelligence--it's gone.

Sigh. It would appear so. TB always had shock value, but it was well balanced by that wit, and that heart, and that intelligence. Now all they do is try to shock us, and it's not even shocking, because we, like Sookie, are getting numb.

WHERES NANCY OLIVER?

Sadly, left. Left with other good people. While we are stuck with Kate Barnow, who "gifted" us with such "gems" like last year's finale. And she's has written the final episode of the show, too! So .... yeah, not looking forward to that already.

The writers are CLUELESS and CRUEL if they think ANY OF THIS is what fans want. Don't get me started on wasting good characters left...

Pretty much right there with you. I keep hoping against hope that there is some sort of a twist coming that will make it all okay, but it's fast dwindling. Sigh.

Thank you again!

I didn't know that Kate Barnow has written the last episode of the show. I liked the episodes she wrote up to the disaster of last years' final.
By all rights Alan Ball should have wrote the last episode of the show but I imagine he wouldn't have wanted to after how much they messed it up.:/

I, too, thought that Alan Ball would write the episode. I think it's even been stated definitively. But now it's been announced it's Kate Barnow, so ... I don't know what to make of this. I really don't. Sigh.

Thank you, dear! Sigh, I am clearly a masochist. I just can't quit it, and I wish to goodness that I could. To walk away with some decent memories instead of tying myself into knots every week ... yet here I am!

Yeah, even these writers are not that insane as to kill off Eric. They learned their lesson last season finale. But what they are doing to the live characters is bad enough.

Hugs!

I REALLY feel that the show atm thinks the Eric fanbase is completely vapid and shallow with thin veneers of superficiality. NO arseholes, that's Bill Compton. Last time we see Eric he's on fire, but they're like, THEY'LL LOVE IT HE'S NAKED AND FULL FRONTAL. And now we finally see him again in a RANDOM gay scene but you know, IT'S HAWT, HE NEEDS NO SUBSTANCE WE'RE SAVING OUR THINKING CAPS FOR FORMER KING ASSHAT.

Still not watching, but basically got the live feed via Tumblr. Ppl get sidetracked by random eyecandy and forget the bigger picture.

Also if they were gonna give Sookie the Wonder Woman spin why not go all the way with a full on Sailor Moon transformation?

Oh, you are not imagining it, Buckner actually does think it. He'd said enough in interviews to demonstrate that, if what the show now does weren't enough of a proof. Ugh.

Heh. I don't know about Sailor Moon (I am not really familiar with it?), but I want a Wonder Woman Sookie, with the lasso! And I want Bill Effing Compton trapped in it and UNABLE TO LIE OR JUSTIFY HIS SHIT FOR ONCE!

Sorry, got on a rant a bit. :)

Yep, he even went as far as to call the fans crazy and Annas' face said it all really.

Alex is off doing bigger and better things like Tarzan and for them to essentially pimp him out is disgusting because he is a talented actor. I know he has no qualms about nudity at all but I'd rather see his character get a decent storyline than be sidelined with hep v because the writers are sadists.

Same here. This dismissive notion that we must be Eric fans simply because he's pretty to look at is infuriating.
