Shackinup SESA
I had forgotten what I had requested from my secret santa writer (I always struggle with that part, umming and ahhing over my submission email until desperation takes over and I write something totally random like 'bottle' or 'mirror') so it was with some embarrassment on Boxing Day that I clicked on shackinup_sesa and found that 'Remus drunk and Sirius not' was what I wanted. Not because that's not hot conceptually but because I had just written a whole fic revolving around alcohol consumption. HEAD. DESK. And if I care to think about it, I think that crops up in all my stuff. Gee do I need to broaden my horizons.
Anyway, sullensiren rose to the occasion and I received Tables Turned, squeee!
My fic, Escapology, was written for smartlikejustin and is a typical challenge fic being very rushed and probably needing another once over but I do not hate it. Probably because I can remember the pain of the five or so false starts before I struck on this one. Also, drunk!James is quite a dear and a pain in the arse and he sort of took over my brain, which was a new and exciting experience. Ehh, and devkel! Who put in a stellar last minute beta effort, amidst a distracting discussion of the drinking habits of HP characters :x
I think I'm done reading over there for now - kinda hit a wall of fic overload. There's a lot I like but just to pick two that really stuck with me ...
A Modern Boy of Beauty, which I knew had to be by imochan because I had that distinctive sinking of the guts and 'why bother' feeling I always get from reading her stuff. It's really beautiful and something quite new and different when it comes to the world of R/S fic.
The Number One Reason Why December of Remus Lupin's Sixth Year Was Good by taffetablue because it is so adorably geeky and cute in all the right ways and it made me feel explosive with happiness.
