sipping champagne in Budapest

A charming beginning to the day. Ricky Kaiser Chiefs says:

Gay men have all the best fun. They can wear the best clothes, go to the best clubs, snog the best-looking boys. I'm stuck with girls. Come on! Throw a couple of boys my way.

Belle & Sebastian are also sending really quite creepy e-cards around. Never be deceived by the sweet and innocent act, kids. Furthermore! A bone I've been longing to pick ... B&S have this to say in pimping their summer range:

Summer is nearly here and one's mind turns to T-SHIRTS! Wearing them, looking at girls wearing, looking at guys looking at girls wearing them.

Okay, so what about the girls looking at the guys wearing them? What about women as bearers of the gaze? A bit of even-handedness is all I ask, lads. We all know there is nothing nicer than a boy in lovely t-shirt.

Perhaps I have been reading too much Laura Mulvey. I had my cinema exams this week. My tally for a week's worth of viewing was:

Thai films: 5
Vietnamese films: 3
Western films: 2

I don't think I can handle watching any film associated with Southeast Asia for a little while.

I don't know what I am doing come September. It has been on my mind for the last month or so, with constant swinging between three options: Australia, UK, Thailand. I ought to make some decision soon though. I seem to have accumulated so much stuff, which I will need to get home by some convuluted, expensive means.

They are having live crosses to the hospital in Melbourne to check on Kylie's health. Really. It's as though it's the Queen who is sick. So strange.

Oh, yes! I met bowdlerized last week, which was quite nice. You popped my LJ friend-meet cherry, Bow :)

ETA: btw, old britpoppers, they are giving Graham Coxon an honorary fellowship at Goldsmiths. Go Graham, go Graham ...
