Okay, so I dropped of the face of the earth for a while.... Lets update on life shall we?
Jeff was in a home, because he did indeed try to kill himself. My lovely parents of course wouldn't tell me this, which is why I was a little neurotic for like ever! But he got home about two weeks ago, after staying in the home for over a month. It's still hard though because he's not himself some days. I seem him smiling more and more recently, but it's still hard to see your little brother go through all this stuff. And as if he didn't have enough on his plate as it is, he is now on crutches because he hurt his foot on his music department field trip. Thankfully it wasn't broken, but still poor guy! He's just as stubborn as me though, trying to do everything for himself still (it's the first time he's ever been on crutches, so it's kinda funny because it looks awkward and he gets annoyed when the crutches don't go where he wants them to). And to top it all off, his girlfriend, who I must admit hasn't been the greatest thing for him since he got back, is being admitted for depression as well. I get it that she struggles with depression, but after Jeff got back, she just succeeded in bringing him down, and me being the (over)protective sister it really bothered me. When he got the call today about Courtney (gf) he just started crying, and it's hard to see that. All I could do was give him a hug, but it didn't make tears stop... He seemed a bit better by the time he went to bed, but you never can tell really. So even if you don't actually pray or anything, please keep my brother in your thoughts.
Okay, so now we can touch base on how my life has been. I finished my second semester at USM, not with flying colors. In the end there are a total of 3 classes that I'll be taking again. One of which I have to take again just because I failed the jury, another because I just plain suck at conducting, and the last one because the teacher was a dick and over half the class will be taking it over again. The final average in the class was a 71, the average! Considering you need a 70 or above to have it count as a major requirement, far more people will be taking it again next spring! I know at least Helen and I will have the joy of taking it over again! So in general, my academic report over this year at USM hasn't been stellar, and there are things I need to work on to make it so it doesn't happen again, it's just going to be very frustrating. But hey, next year should be exciting because all of my favorite peoples are going to be on the same floor as me! Hell, Helen, Manda and I are going to be neighbors!
My birthday was kinda a bust, because Jeff came down from Bangor (where he was living) and he had a huge party with his friends. My parents didn't really say happy birthday to me for a while, which was sad. The only way I kept sane was because Karissa came up with me and we got to spend some time together. That and I woke up beside her that morning, ah the joys of a dorm room... But yeah, needless to say I'll be spending my 21st birthday with my friends and not wasting the trip up! But one really cool thing about my birthday, my parents got Jeff and me season tickets for this summers theatre production in Brunswick, which includes Jesus Christ Superstar, Les Miserables, The Producers, and All Shook Up (which I know nothing about!). But yeah, I was totally psyched!!
Since we're on the mention of musicals my brother will be staring in Bye Bye Birdy during the last two weekends of June. He's playing the role of Hugo if that means anything to you. Again, I know very little about the musical, but Jeff says it'll be good. He has to cut his hair though!!! *sniff* It looks really good long! But he figured since he was going to have to part with some of his hair, he dyed the tips of his hair red! It looks really cool!
Now we've slowly approached the summer. I do have a job already lined up, which is nice. Again I have to thank my mother for the connections and hooking me up with her pottery teacher. I'll be working at a summer camp - but it isn't your typical summer camp. It's an all girl's camp, ages 8 - 16, and it's one of those really rich camps. Put it this way, I spent three weeks in Europe for less than the price these parents are paying for a three week session! Put anyways, I'll be Malley's (pottery teacher) assistant in all of her pottery classes. Then I'll also be assisting the other counselors with kids. I'll be living at the camp, to save on gas, but will get 2 1/2 days of, so I'll get to go home and things like that. Room and board is covered by the camp, so I won't be spending any money on food, which is good because I don't need to buy junk food. With me doing this whole diet and exercise thing, the camp will certainly keep be on that regimen. But there's two different staff lounges, each with internet, tv, dvd, stereo, which is amazing! I'm allowed to bring my laptop but can't have it out in front of the kids!
(okay, i'm finally getting tired and it's 4 am, so I'll finish this update at another time...)
