Day 09 - Your beliefs
I am a man of God. I believe that man alone could not and can not earn salvation for themselves. I believe that God sent Jesus to die for my sins and through him salvation is secured.
I am a Christian. If you want to break it down further, I believe in “faith alone, Christ alone, scripture alone”, so I’d be classified as a protestant.
My beliefs are constantly challenged. I suppose you can say that’s because I’ve invested too much of myself into this world. So much of what I do and want to achieve is rooted in what I can see, do, and impact. And then we have faith, a wonderful little logical fallacy that’s easy enough to say, but extremely difficult to believe.
Faith is like a poorly constructed jigsaw puzzle. You put the pieces together and when the puzzle is complete, a piece is missing. Those without faith look at the puzzle and say it’s incomplete. Those with faith look at the puzzle and see a complete picture with their faith filling in the gaps. The two perspectives are fundamentally opposed.
In the last two months, since I started going back to church, I’ve witnessed and experienced what some might consider “supernatural events”. From faith healing to a rather intense laying of hands to baptisms of the Holy Spirit I’ve seen and experienced a lot of things I can’t explain. God is a supernatural being!
Normally I’d write a lot more, but I don’t feel it’s necessary. I keep my beliefs more on the private end, though, I would like to get better at sharing them.
