Well I'm gonna be in trouble with my volley squad captain. We had a call that I needed Paramedics for, so I called for Mohawk. We're not suppossed to use them because the Captain won't pay them for the services. Mohawk won't turn down though, thankfully. The captain prefers we use Schenectady Fire or Guilderland Paramedics. I run calls with SFD everyday and there's very few of them I will trust with my patient. I didn't want Guilderland because we we going to a Sch'dy hospital, I'll only use them to go to Albany. But fuck the Cap. I'll call who I trust, I was vey glad to see the crew sent was Darwen, Alex, and Erica. Darwen and Erica climbed in and Erica did her stuff. I felt things ran smoother than when SFD has been used, mainly because we all knew each other, I really appreciated their help. If I catch shit for using Mohawk, I tell the Cap where he can stick the radio. On my calls where I'm cre cheif, I stand by my decisions, and i do what's best for the patient. Same goes for the Senior Crew Chief who doesn't like my REMO-approved abbreviations. DVAC needs a rehaul of power. I know of at least 2 good EMTs who will come back if the Captain steps down. They're getting a new ambulance, another huge one. We already have one, we don't need another, unless they plan on taking the old one offline, which i don't think they are doing. What would be great is if they paid to upgrade thouse of us who want it to EMT-Intermediate. It's the lowest level of ALS, but They can at least put an IV in and put in endotracheal tubes. It would cut down on ALS intercepts, because many times things can be figured out by putting an IV in and taking a look on the heart monitor. We could also use real uniforms, at least a pair of EMT pants the shirts we have are ok. They have no membership because they have nothing to offer. No incentive to show up. I'm not saying we should be paid (though it would be nice) but something.
