Cagalli basically tells Meyrin "I leave him in your hands, since I can't go with you guys." Cagalli will remain behind at Orb, while Meyrin will be part of the AA crew. Cagalli even has taken off the ring given her by Athrun.

- Basically, Djibril's base gets obliterated, along with Requiem, by ZAFT. No further damage is done to the PLANTs, and Rey gets the honor of taking out Djibril personally. The main point, though, is before the battle, where Rey comes up with a plan that basically makes Lunamaria the bait. Shinn isn't happy about that at all, which might very well be a sign as to how the Minerva trio's future will pan out.
- As suggested in the OP and later during the episode, Cagalli officially entrusts the Akatsuki to Leo/Mu. She also "entrusts" Athrun to Meyrin. She'll remain in Orb, presumably to continue the political tug-of-war with Dullindal. She's also discarded the ring from Athrun, and Athrun more or less accepts the situation for what it is.
They didn't have time to talk. Athrun tried to approach her after the AA initiation ceremony (where he notices the lack of the ring), but she scrammed without even staring in his direction.
