after struggling for months on NOT getting the xbox 360's $99 wireless adapter, i stumbled upon the DD-WRT project, an open source project to make an uber firmware for routers. After some reading I found cheap $20 router at fry's and some 2-3 hours of fiddling with the instructions I was able to turn it into a $200 router and then some.
Now my router can turn into a bridge or whatever it wants to :)

This thing also has bandwidth traffic control (why couldn't i have this when i had roommates)
