holy crap! *warning geek post*
after struggling for months on NOT getting the xbox 360's $99 wireless adapter, i stumbled upon the DD-WRT project, an open source project to make an uber firmware for routers. After some reading I found cheap $20 router at fry's and some 2-3 hours of fiddling with the instructions I was able to turn it into a $200 router and then some.
Now my router can turn into a bridge or whatever it wants to :)

If you want to do what I did, pick up the Airlink+ AR430w at fry's for $20

btw, I have never seen such a beautiful interface on a router than this, and an BUTTLOAD of features i never knew was possible on a router.
This thing also has bandwidth traffic control (why couldn't i have this when i had roommates)
