Bird people

So I just moved to Newport News from southern Illinois. The birds have found my feeders and I've seen all sorts. But one thing puzzles me. There are no (old world) sparrows. I have no seen a single sparrow. I was under the impression that house sparrows, like pigeons, were everywhere. There isn't a lot of agriculture going on here on the peninsula ( Read more... )

There are house sparrows all over the place out here. I'm in Southern California.

Not much, I've been working as an animator on a video game for the past year which has sucked up a lot of my time. :) I still keep up with some things on the Internet (DeviantArt and Tumblr and Livejournal mostly) but I'm not as involved as I used to be. Which is kind of a bummer because I miss being part of a community.

Boy do I know how *that* is. I don't have any sort of industry job but I work for a couple of commercial websites, which, I suppose, amounts to about the same thing. And for me it's like: Work first; Homo sapiens later!

I, too, miss being a part of a 'community'. The really hilarious thing is, the best, at least the most welcoming and fun, community that I've ever been a part of is STILL TLKFAA. HA!!!!!

Yeah I agree, TLKFAA is still the best community I was a part of. It's too bad it kind of fell apart and everyone drifted away to do their own thing. But I'm glad that some people have actually carried on with their art and become successful since then. :) I still draw lions sometimes when I have no idea what to draw.

I don't recall who I was talking to (some TLKFAAer) but we were both discussing how a surprisingly large percentage of the old crew went on to industry or freelance jobs in the arts. I don't know what it was about the Lion King community, but it seemed to churn out some real pros. Go figure!!!
