2012 Summer Olympics
The Opening Ceremonies haven't even happened, and Japan is already making waves. The men's soccer team pulled a surprising 1-0 win against Spain, a gold medal favorite, in their first Group D. The game is now being referred to as the "Miracle of Glasgow".
Nadeshiko Japan also won their first group match. On Wednesday, the ladies beat Canada 2-1. I'd like to express my thorough disgust at whoever made the women's team fly economy while the not-World Cup champion men's team got to be in business class. Boo to your sexism!
Now that I got that off my chest, what Olympic events are you most looking forward to watching?
I'm most excited about BMX racing since I missed its debut in Beijing (I pretty much missed out on the 2008 Games since I had just moved to Japan). Gymnastics is another event I plan on watching. It's the sport that got me watching the Olympics, and I have fond childhood memories of rooting for Team U.S.A.
