1st day of Lunar 牛 Year

Jan 27, 2009 09:54

A Christmas carol sings "On the 1st of Christmas, my true love sent to me...." then i think why not i account for my 1st day of 牛 Year?! Well, here it goes...

i woke up 8.30 am despite that i slept past midnight on the eve of lunar new year. my usual routine of having a shake for breakfast, water and tea intake. i dressed in white, ready to meet my elder brother and his family. they reached my place by 10.30 am. we spend 45 minutes chatting and taking photos before i joined them to visit my dad at Toa Payoh.

without fail, i will take a photo with my family on Lunar New Year. my niece and nephew are teenagers now, time flies. by mid 2009, they will be in poly and i hope that i can give them some guidances but not to be too "pushy" or harsh.

when we stepped into dad's place and after giving him mandarin oranges, we immediately speed off to King's Road to visit a relative that my dad will go every year without fail despite his health conditions. all the usual updates and chats before we returned to Toa Payoh to have lunch. i skipped eating and had my shake. :)

my dad stayed at home watching telly while all of us head to Clementi to visit my uncle, my dad's younger brother, to give him and aunt our well wishes. i like my uncle as he is liberal and fun loving. my siblings and me have no problems talking to him as he is very open and willing to accept our views. he is a person that i love and respect...

after all the relatives' visiting, i took the MRT to visit my friend, P. the train was packed with foreign workers and initially i was a bit agitated as they blocked the entrance of the train's doors. shortly i get over it and become more sympathetic especially the Chinese from China are not able to go home to spend the new year with their family members.

when i reached P's house, B wasn't there yet. i spend 45 minutes there as i have my last stop - Yishun. i hitched a ride from P's sister for my next hop! within 15 minutes i was in the North. if i had taken bus, i would need 45 minutes of bus ride. phew...

at Yishun, i talked to S's parents. they were kind to let me eat their specially prepared vegetarian dish as i love it very much. every year, without fail, i had my dinner with them. S only reached her parents' house at 7 pm. at 9ish, we left the place to go S's house. this was a last minute decision since her brother is going and i haven't seen him for a year. we chat a while.... i left her place at 11 pm.

i did a quick count of my ang pows collection - S$120 for the 1st day. a little more > $120 will be my collection as i will not be visiting and i am contended with whatever amount that i collect.

a good start for the new year with new cash coming in... 發發發!
