Advertising... amazing concept there, hi_may. Too bad the business dynamos behind the local attractions haven't considered it as an option, particularly given the point you've so succinctly made... other states and cities are advertising here, over the tube, radio and on billboards.
I like the idea of package deal, but there may be a problem with that idea. I, unfortunately, have the anti-Wichita attitude. We have some really nice attractions but how long would an "out-of-towner" want to spend at them. To me the idea of going to KC and exploring is more appealing than doing the same in Wichita. But I think that may be a hometown issue. I just don't know how much time anyone would want to spend at the particular attractions. To me Wild West World looked like a half day event if that. I just don't know.
My two cents with these venues would be as you suggest, advertise, advertise, advertise. Stick with your budget. Budget for the inexplicable or cushion to protect your ASSets. Have a reasonable business plan with realistic projections and a plan B for just in case things don't quite go as expected to. Hrmmm. There's more, but I'm done for now.
